Herr.Wolfkatze
Was long and hard but I finally ended up deciding Stock suited my city slicker nature, and streety style of trials. No naturals to ride around here, and no car to take a mod around long distances to the best trials spots. Also coming from a dirt jump bike, it'll just be a nicer transition for me.Feedback is always welcomed Edited June 10, 2009 by Herr.Wolfkatze
bikeperson45
What style you going for? Spinny, fun = 24" Gaps, sidehops =20"
Herr.Wolfkatze
What style you going for? Spinny, fun = 24" Gaps, sidehops =20"Honestly? I'd love both, but probably more likely lean towards the TGS side of things.
Ash-Kennard
can still do spinny shit on a mod and trials on a 24" though id go stock, but as thats not an option
Ben John-Hynes
Hmm, because you find that you P3 is a bitch to get on the back wheel, don't let that deter you from getting a Stock trials bike. I started on a stock and don't regret a single minute of it. Ride some bikes on your local ride, and get to know what you like/dislike. If you like the thought of 26" but find normal stock bikes hard to keep on the back wheel, look at high bottom bracket bikes- they make back wheel moves feel so easy. Herr.Wolfkatze
Bump~Right, well I looked around for some ads and stuff around gumtree for fairly new used trials bikes and OH-my-GOD... This bike is.. well there's no other way to say it: "THE MOTHER F'CKING SEX just laying there right on a platter ready to be taken right NOW"Here's the 4-11:"Ko Bikes KM1 (long) Mod Trials BikeThe frame was orignally white, but my dad works for Argonaught (one of only a handful of companies in the UK which powder coat to certain BS codes) and had it powder coated black. The paint job is a 6 stage/layer process and would normally cost three figures. It is extremely hard to chip or scratch.Alot of other components are nearly brand new as I gave it a major overhaul over the last two months.I haven't got the enthusiasm to go onto tartybikes and work out how much it would cost to build this bike new, but it would certainly be well in excess of £1500.Specification:Frame: Ko KM1 long (1045wb)Forks: Koxx ForxxFront wheel: Onza Pro Series rim / Viz disc hub / 2X spoke pattern, handbuilt by myself (many years wheel building experience) (2 months old)Rear wheel: Onza Pro Series 148 rim / Viz disc hub (fixed) / 3X spoke pattern, handbuilt by myself (2 months old)Front brake: Magura Louise BAT disc brake (3 weeks old)Rear brake: Magura HS33 4-bolt, Plazmatic pads (2 weeks old, been on bike for 2 rides)Front tyre: Koxx Try-all (plenty of tread)Rear tyre: Koxx Try-all (plenty of tread)Bars: Zoo! riserStem: Echo modHeadset: Canecreek (2 months old)Cranks: Trialtech ISIS (2 months old)Bottom bracket: Truvativ Gigapipe DH ISIS (2 months old)Freewheel: Koxx Try-all 108.9 (2 months old)Bashguard: Trialtech Titanium Half Bash (2 months old)Chain: KMC Kool Chain (2 months old)Pedals: Onza Hognesium - pins fell out (really?! Herr.Wolfkatze
Hehe, you won't go wrong with an Inspired. I'm totally loving mine!Cant find one 2nd hand and brand new just seems like a bit of a costly wait for a beginner IMO. I want to start learning now, not wait till august to spend a grand and find out i'm destined to be useless at trials (otherwise id get one, theyre beautiful bits of kit)

Herr.Wolfkatze
Aah mate i'd KINDA like to, but theyre quite expesive to get and harder to find cheap 2nd hand, so to me that would mean selling my P.3 which I REALLY like to keep, as I just finished working on it, and its quite a hard to find and long sought after frame. It would be nice to get around on. Although I met a guy off the forum yesterday and rode his Leeson 505, (really LONG quite twitchy bike) and it was lovely, really fun and easy to ride around on, and not even the gearing was too bad (coming from an mtb with 9spd cassette and 44t chainring thats something!)Its what pushed me over the edge to go mod, because I did originally want a stock

Scott Gibbs
I built mine for less than 300 notes so it doesnt have to be massively expensive. Just look around a bit dont just jump at the 1st bike u see.
Herr.Wolfkatze
Well, guess what, I just decided to revert my choice back to getting a stock quicker than a Mercedes McLaren SLR stops on a two pence piece.Buying an Onza Woodstock from the lovely TF regular, †CETFLY †The link to it on the forums is somewhere in this thread, any opinions on it gents? I reckon its pretty neat for a beginner and one of the best nick used bikes i've ever come across too.
