What Grinder Does Everyone Use?

Hey, need to purchase a grinder. Don't really care about the money, just want something that can offer me a sharp deep grind :)

Also what disc? im sure a metal disc is best, and it'd be quite a thin one?

Edit: Help us out with a link to where I can buy these from. Cheers xx

Stone Cutting for me.

edit: If you are buying a grinder to do your rims you do not need metabo or dewalt or bosch or makita etc. Argos own brand will be fine

Wilkenson's. It's not great, but for rim grinds it's perfect. Also buy a few discs, aluminium wares them out quick. I use metal cutting generally, they give a sharp grind when fresh. About £15 i think it was and a few quid for discs.

So just any old grinder will do then? and then lots of metal cutting discs.

Its not that I'm new to grinds, its just I've never had a grinder of my own and wanted a good one.

I've always loved the quality of grinds you get from Tartybikes :turned: What do they use (hoping Adam will comment on this) ?? Or is it more that they have a great 'grinding technique'?

You can get a grinder from argos for £12.50 (i use one)

i use the diamond and titanium disc on it though (bought seperately, form a DIY store) the disc cost £25 but its worth it because it wont fray

like some of the other ones do ^_^

One disc was fine for me, the one that came with the grinder.

There are loads or technique videos but I don't see why, it's not that hard! Maybe practice on a spare rim first if you have one.

For deeper grinds you want a bigger angle, say 45+, and for shallower grinds, a smaller angle.

Don't try and grind it all in one go and don't go over the same spot repeatedly.

Have fun, and be careful. Goggles might be a good idea if you can get any.

Hi, I am looking for a grinder and dont know which one to go for, one at wilkinsons and argos looks ok but they are 4.5". Wouldn't it be better to go for 9" one as it can grab more surface? Tartybikes grind has not been reveled either.

I loved the grind from tarty i got on my rim, but keep getting thin and smooth grinds with the grinder at work. Maybe it would be a better idea to go for a grinder with adjustable speed (RPM) and bigger dics?
