Adrian
ok so this might be a major nubish question, but would a trialtech sport forged stem 120x17 be too low for an 07 GUtp. stock.i havnt seen trialtech stem in person really, and dont know what 120x17 looks like haha is that really low? i never normaly care bout it really, but they just look so wimpy nd thin in the tarty pics.also, has anyone snapped, cracked or twisted one yet?cheerss
Ben John-Hynes
I'd say it would be a bit too low to be comfortable. And a lad I know bent one.
ben_travis
On the contrary, trialtech stems are awesome. Had no problems with mine. I love it.I think if you has the stem slammed to the headset then it would be too low, however a 10-15mm stacker(s) underneath would solve that problem. It also depends on your bar choice / position. If you have monty bars they have a large rise, although trialtech bars has a low rise. SO consider that as well Use stackers and the TT stem will be fine, if you slam it, i imagine it would be a little low
Adrian
ooo well i have a pair of adamant bars and the old style zoo bars, both have barely any rise. and i hate the narrowness and general feel of all other rise bars haha but nevermind! well i might just give it a go anyways, or try and save up for an echo cnc hmm what a mission!! Adrian
yea i do and that isnt much rise when you compare to monty bars and such and plus i ride them pretty far forward i dont get much rise out of them anyways. and theyre gold so i dont really want to run them unless i have to
Luke Rainbird
There's a pretty big difference between those pictured and what many people call the 'old' zoo bars. Those in the picture (hollow logos) have more rise and a much nicer shape that the later models
Mat Smith!!
They are 04 zoo bars which are pretty much the same as trial techs, everyone calls old zoo bars the 06 ones, which came in like 6 colours, and have more rise than 07/08 but less than 04.Edit: And I wouldn't trust bars which are 5 years old, unless there new. forteh
Wow, I thought the threads would have gave way before that happend? The threads will only give way if you REALLY go to town on them with the allen keys, riding with the stem overtightened (but not tight enough to strip the threads) will put alot more additional stresses in the alumium which will in turn fail I like my trialtech stem! Dont lie, you secretly fantasize about taking tools to the pub edit: oh and the fact that your brake mounts are stripped would seem to indicate that you DO infact go to town with your allen keys Edited June 5, 2009 by forteh
