Herr.Wolfkatze
I don't really want to grind my rims because it's unlikely i'll be doing alot of trials riding in the wet. It's summer right now, and as we head into winter again i'll probably get myself a cheap grinder, but for now. Which pads work best for a no grind?I'm looking for either a magura pad (to be used with the Ozna V brake adapter)Or just a regular V-Brake pad.(Do I need to remove the pads themselves from the original HS33 backings and re-glue them to the Ozna adapter? If so what kind of glue should I use?) Edited June 4, 2009 by Herr.Wolfkatze
austen
I can't imagine it working well mate, just invest in a cheap grinder, or get pads that are meant for smooth rims
Herr.Wolfkatze
Ooh~ Which pads work well on smooth rims? I haven't done much research into them yet.. I'm pretty sure the stock ones were made to though.
maxxis26
im using blue plaz pads on an echo rim and they are awsome i find them to be better than a grind
LukasMcNeal
Get a cheap angle grinder!
psycholist
If it's an orbital style sander then it won't work well at all. If it's a sanding disk attached to a power drill you can put radial grooves on the braking surface by using one edge of the disk all around the rim. It will give the brake a little more bite and old, especially in the wet, but nothing like as good as an angle grinder grind.

Herr.Wolfkatze
im using blue plaz pads on an echo rim and they are awsome i find them to be better than a grindI'm going to sound like such a spanner but I need to know this answer so here goes xDWhat are blue plaz pads? I'm looking for them and the closest I've found so far are those Plazmatic Spanish Fly pads on the Tartybikes website, is there another model of Plazmatic pad that I'm supposed to be looking for? Herr.Wolfkatze
Hmm, the CRM's seem to be designed for use without grinds/tar too.. and on the Plazmatic website they mention something about a brand new pad coming out soon that's supposed to be awesome, and in the picture the colour of the pads were blue... Although this is dated 2005 and after numerous searches i've still come up with nout, surely it's not taking 4 years to finish product testing and you're one of the lucky testers? Lol*sigh~*

WIGAN
the new compound is out now in tnn backings, but if your after pads for smooth just get some heatsinks and keep your rims smooth grinds are over rated i prefer smooth to be honest

RossMcd
Heatsink white pads are great on smooth They also come in a version which comes in backings for v brakes meaning you wont need any adapters.

They're there on the Heatsink website but little information on them, I looked on some other sites and apparently they work quite well in the wet too. Won't be riding in it really but it's a thought. Are they better for smooth rims than the white pads? Because if they are then I'll GLADLY order them from Australia and weight infinity years for them
Herr.Wolfkatze
If anyone else would like them and doesn't mind internationally ordering, the CRM/CRV pads in ALL colours are available much cheaper here:http://midwestbiketrials.com/store/index.p...mp;cPath=2_7_22

Herr.Wolfkatze
Hahaha that's ironic. Made in britain, can't purchase them from britain, gotta get them from australia and then wait for your own goods to be returned to you Do you know if the reds respond better than the whites on a smooth rim?
