NVWOCI WVS
I need two new fixed wheel bikes. One hack bike (another conversion) and a pimpin' lo pro. For now, I just need to get the hack sorted so I have a non-car way of getting around. Anyone with a lugged steel frame and 700c fixed bits to sell me cheap? Fixed Pants™
Plus the gyroscopic effect allowing you to flick the bike over quicker, and a generally shorter wheelbase allowing yet more manoeuvrability. If your post was completely correct then DHers would all be running 32" wheels or something.Plus smaller wheels are stronger.
Pashley26
Just thought I'd post up one of my fav' rides, this ones a really nice ride and takes in some nice roads and undulations with plenty of places to stop and take photos/take a breather. Here we go - http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source...mp;t=h&z=11I do this ride once a week to my dads house on a Sunday morning, but now a days I'm getting lazy and taking the car....http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source...mp;t=h&z=18I want another Road bike.I'm very much in love with the Columbus Tifosi with full Record on it we've got at work, but we've also got a Massi Carbon X which is giving me the horn ! JD™
Plus smaller wheels are stronger. Already been said n00b.
Fixed Pants™
But they are stronger.I love my road bike... I gave it the wobble test and wasn't impressed, but it still hoons... And hitting about 50 on it today was awesome.
N.Wood
It would have been fun to see your wheels get stuck in the tram lines at 45mph (my estimate for how fast you were going when you say 50)
Fixed Pants™
I did, stupidly, ignore the lights for the tramline half way down, just didn't see them. Luckily, they were green...I'm sure i saw something like 48.8 or something, and i was still pedaling.
Mr Plod
You may beable to get that exact wheelset, finding where from may be a problem though...Give us a price range budy, for something similar, with the way prices are at the mo, i'd look to spend about £120ish./ Edited June 19, 2009 by Mr Plod
Mr Plod
Right been looking around and found a set of wheels. Would these do the job?RearFrontThat's the nearest I could find without having to buy the parts all individually then getting the wheels built up... Robwalker
They're pretty similar to the ones on the marin. They'll do the job fine, my only concern would be them actually fitting them on the bike.

Dan-Walker
borrowed a mates bike for a few weeks, to see if i like it, but i feel to stretched out on it, dunno wether its because the frames too big, or because im not used to this style of bike ?and what is a compact frame ? JonMack
Looks pretty good to me, will just be cos you're not used to it really. Very different riding position to trials
Pashley26
and what is a compact frame ?A compact frame is exactly that, a slightly smaller and shorter frame which lowers the center of gravity making them more nimble and allowing the rider greater agility through the turns. Shaun H
I'm looking at some lycra cycling shorts for some average training (10-60 mile rides) since I'm finding my boxers/shorts are chafing, surprise surprise.Any recomendations?
Robwalker
Just grab some old team shorts off eBay, keep an eye out for coolmax padding too. If your not worried about the colour you can get a decent set for about £15-£20.
