Unipsycho
I'll set the scene. It was a glorious afternoon in May, and I pinched my tire or something and basically the bike is a load of plop (got bored of scene setting ) anyway, I now have no bike, and obv want to learn trials from the beginning.I'm looking for something cheap, say about £200 perhaps? Any advice on what I should buy? I've been told a trail bike is heavier but sturdier and is worth learning on as it can take some abuse and crashes, and then when I get a proper, light bike I will basically fly.Is that good advice, or should I get something else?Help me pleeeaaase? I'm really no expert, but I've seen this question asked before. Most people seem to think your best bet is to just buy a trials specific bike if you wanna do trials. Maladie
Yeah just learn on a trials bike then you won't go through any trouble switching from a mountain bike to a trials bike, because you would find it hard to get use to actually doing trials on the proper bike for it because you wouldn't be use to one at all.I recommend you look on Ebay so something like an 06/07/08 Onza Rip/Bird/T-Pro. (Should be able to pick up a pretty decent one from around £100 - £250)

jake muir
I would say start on a onza t-bird/pro or rip. they are good starter bikes as they are strong. You could pick one up for about 100 - 200. And ye the guys right it is like law to start on a onza. I started on a onza t-bird it was like unbreakablejake
Kieran
I would recommend getting an onza. Probably an Onza Rip or an Onza Bird or something like that. Maybe you might be able to find a good second hand T-pro.
Earl
onza's are best. or you could get an mission or da bomb look around
mr_malcolm
go for a trials specific bike. Im guessing if you were looking at trail bikes you would like a 26" wheel. Look on ebay and keep an eye on here in the for sale section, all of the bikes metioned have been 20" wheels. Look for maybe an older t-rex or even a t-raptor again both onzas but ok bikes to start on and if you dont like it/get on with it you havent wasted loads of money on a bike with no seat.
