I'm in the USA, where everyone is circumcised, and i'm not, so i just find the subject interesting.

And i'm hoping people will post pics!

Completely different with girls and boys. With girls, it is often done illegally, and it takes all the pleasure from sex for them.

But if it were illegal to do it to boys how is it different? It is after all genital mutilation however you look at it, in 99% of the cases (I guess) without any kind of consent from the boy because he's 2 weeks old!

I don't know about the religion, but it is practiced in this country for people with a medical issue.

Are you sure? I thought circumcision was a purely religious practice primarily in Judaism.

One of my friends told me that their brother didnt wash for a while when he was younger and got an infection so they had to give him the snip. Ouch and yuck.

In men i cant see any reason why you would these days, obviously jews do it because its part of the religion, but for women, its pretty savage that people still do it in the third world. I guess they think if women get no pleasure from sex, they aint gunna go sleeping around.

Depends how you look at it, either mutilation or cosmetic surgery.

I know someone who has had it done.

Some lads need it done because their foreskins are too tight so they can't wash properly and stuff like that. It's sort of a last resort though.

Circumcision is an initiation thingy for Jewish babies. Muslims also practise it as they see it as a sign of purity.

Christians and Hindus are against it.

With girls, they like cut the clit off and stuff, and don't do it properly. Plus they do it for all the wrong reasons.

And with jews, they have it done at their bamitzva (sp?) which is when they are 12 i think. Although i supose they still dont have a choice which i think is unfair.

And i'm sure, it's not just for religion, loads of people have it done for medical reasons. Like cant pull it back to wash and hurts havin sex, infections etc etc

Showing my ignorance here but what, exactly, are the religious beliefs behind male genital mutilation? Seems like one seriously f**ked up thing to do in modern society. People get really quite upset about tribes in Africa doing this to girls (and boys?) yet it is still a completely accepted practice amongst Jews.

'tis a fair point, but like a fish in water, most people miss it because of how common or pervading it is. Imagine if the convention was to lop ear lobes off?

"A Jewish baby's circumcision marks his entrance into the covenant with God." No doubt such a situation arose from some random belief which is continued simply out of tradition or habit, such as most of life. Are they trying to suggest that god is more up for being your friend if you don't have foreskin?

I wonder if circumcision relates to the want of reducing physical sexual sensation and thus desire which leaves more room to turn oneself toward god? I wonder what sort of world we'd live in if everyone was asexual? Aside from obvious problems that is.

I know alot about it because i know people that have had it done, never really understood it when i was younger so asked and got it explained to me.

I know you probably think i am circumcised lol, not really bothered if people think that, it's a bloomin bike forum haha

I had this conversation with my mates the other week. I'm still really not sure what they cut off lol. I remember when I was younger and started wanking the skin ripped off the under side of my bellend I was a bit worried about it like but I think its pretty normal.

Another thing that popped up was banjo snapping. The thought of that makes me cringe.

Yeaaa I had that, was wierd, like the skin slowley ripped off.

Banjo snapping is on my list of things to avoid at all costs.
