Can Anyone Honestly Say They Revise Weeks In Advance?

im kinda panicking for two reasons... first my heart has been beating irregularly all day, like twittering, and secondly ive been trying to revise thermodynamics and i cant do any of the example questions. A combination of no method, and slightly different table values resulted in me getting pissed off and going home. Whenever I read any of my work it makes perfect sense, just when im on my own I have no idea :/

Anyone else feeling exam stress?

Sucks doesn't it...

Though I'm a 'revise 2/3 days before the exam' kinda guy and have always kept up my ~60% marks in exams. I know I could do better, but thats kinda all I want is a 2:1 and am more interested in my result:effort ratio.

My gf on the other hand revises for weeks solid, and is aiming for the 80% marks. Her last exam had a load of questions no one was expecting, therefore she couldn't write anything like she usually does. She was more pissed off she spent all that tiem revising for nothing.

I think for these final a2 exams ill put a bit more revision in because I know its my final chance for a uni place, but I dont really learn much from reading I wish there was a more practical way of revising.

Everyone in my school starts revision about two months before their A levels :( Is bullshit cos no ones out. An whenever people do come out they always ask me how much revision i've done.

How much revision you done?

Eeeerrr, none.

Oh, right. You know exams start in 2 weeks?

Yer, but it's sunny an i'm hungover

Well i've done five hours today, and i rewrote all my notes, bought pens ready for the exams and learnt to juggle.

Great, sounds like you're having fun at least.

I only revised a few days before my AS levels though an still got good results when all the heavy revisers flopped hard. I honestly think my non revising attitude also means i'm generally less worried about exams so don't get as nervous and don't f**k up as much.

Saying that, i probably should do some :(

I never spent much time revising—all you need to do (for non-maths type papers at least) is learn the core concept and blag your way around it.

Also, teach yourself stuff—that's what I did and became a web developer before uni even came round. Formal education is overrated. I don't have one but I have a fooking awesome job. Revise 'til it feels like it's too much or not helping, and best of luck.

For my GCSEs I revised during the week before, got 11 A-Cs.

For my AS Levels I revised much harder, got DEU, (had already decided I wasn't going back anyway, just hated it), dropped out, went to college, doing well and aiming for about 320 UCAS points.

When I get to Uni though, I'm going to need to work out a system. I'm not a revising person, I don't think it works that well so I plan to just work hard through the year, learn lots, revise a little bit just to refresh it on the morning and do my best.

I'm doing what will be last my exams for the forseeable future...and my performance will have a big impact on my forseeable future. What really motivates me is that whatever I get this year will be a reflection of the last 4 years of my life (perhaps not for me, but for pretty much everyone else..) and I want to leave uni knowing that I did the absolute best I could.

To have invested all this time, effort and (possibly most importantly) money and know I didn't get what I think I deserved/wanted at the end of it would be a beeeeatch :P

On the plus side...only 4 weeks to go...

f**k...didn't realise it was that long..

good luck everyone!

Didn't revise for any of my GCSE's, passed them all pretty well.

Same here, most I've ever done for any tests throughout school is a quick glance at a book or diagram.

I don't see how people can spend a couple of hours a day for a good month revising.

The only revising is good for is if you pay bugger all attention in class (I'm a bit of the inbetween, I have my fun but I take in some of the work, probably explains my grades).

I have an English GCSE on Wednesday and an English on Tuesday. I've been revising quite a lot for science, because I suck at it, but I'm confident in English so revising a bit less.

What I hate is the people that pretend they haven't done any revision, when really they're revising a lot.

And i hate it when people always ask how much revision I've been doing

Trying to cram loads of information in one sitting, like girls always do, just makes your mind even more screwed up and you end up forgetting everything. Maybe have a glance at stuff you arent 100 percent on an hour before, no point revising for hours and hours like Will on the Inbetweeners

It depends what for. For my GCSEs and A-levels I didn't do very much - I knew what I needed to cover, and I did it. I'm sure some people would have to put in more hours though, some less, it's quite a personal thing so I don't think you can take too much advice from people on here. On the other hand, I've just had my finals at uni though, and yes, I did revise for well over a month in advance. That was 6 years of work though so I wasn't going to risk failing that!

I would be pissed off if I failed exams because I didn't revise enough though. For the sake of a few extra days reading books instead of playing xbox, it's fairly stupid to run the risk of failing exams.

Although I would advise never to revise instead of getting a good night's sleep. If you're awake and alert, you'll do well.

I honestly think my non revising attitude also means i'm generally less worried about exams so don't get as nervous and don't f**k up as much.

Ha, that's an interesting way to convince yourself you've done enough revising.

I haven't been out drinking in about 2months, and have virtually stopped riding, revising 24/7 althogh i do end up sitting on here most the time. All i need to do is get a grade in my next 3 maths exams (1st of which is on Friday) and I'm home and dry in uni.

Just looked at it as, if i don't go uni, i will have to grow up get a job and cut down on riding.

At uni I can remain being Peter Pan, riding to my hearts content and enjoying every second :)

Haha but seriously, obviously the winning formula would be a laid back attitude and somehow still motivation to revise. No doubt i'd do better if I could have the same attitude but still convince myself to revise, but the two just don't really go together. I'd rather take the fall of not revising much then the fall of just shitting bricks, clamping up in exams and failing like some of the kids in my school who've parents have destined them to be doctors do.

Unconditional uni offers don't help much either :(

I gotta agree. My laid back attitude and not bothering really if i got good marks helped me. Not to toot my own horn but i always do well in exams.

You see I just fail in exams, top of most of my classes, but when it comes to exams I just do shockingly bad.

Simps, some people are in your situation mostly because they don't cope well under pressure and conversely, cope well in relaxed environments. If you were given two questions (ok im going for a maths one here) with diferent numbers, you'd probably do the one in class, but not in exam. You just got to calm down in exam conditions and dont get so stressed. Ill be honest, i found that by bending the rules a little helps break the strict exam tension and helps me focus more. Im not talking about cheating, just say something casual to a friend as you walking in, sitting down before everyone else has.

I also found out today (officially) that thermodynamics is SHIT. Its all very well kids saying they dont revise for their GCSE's and SAT's ...lol... neither did I. Infact in school I only revised maths A-level for 20 minutes.... lol
