RossMcd
Hey!I always wondered if an 05 magura lever blade would work on an 04 lever body. So I was bored today and thought I might try it Figured out what I needed to do to the lever blade and after about 10 minutes with the angle grinder, the lever blade fitted onto the body and actually works I have fitted the lever blade to my koxx for a little test to see how well it works. all it really would need is for the lever to be bent into a better shape so it pushes the piston a bit more but that proved VERY difficult. I have realised the the lever doesnt push the piston as much as the proper 04 lever blade does but what if I was to use a really think fluid in the system? would it push the slave pistons out more than water? discuss? hdmackay
I actually love you Ross. I've been thinkng this myself actually as I prefer the feel of the 05 and I prefer the TPA on the 05, but the 04's don't break as easy. Great wee bodge there. Looks a bit wierd but hey.Hope you suss out your wee problem!
Mat Smith!!
Was gonna' try this ages ago, but couldnt figure the tpa bit out to work properly, im sick of killing 05 bodies, but love 05 blades.
Danny Swindlehurst
thats ace!
imhereithink
nice bodge there As for the thicker fluid that wont work as you are still displacing the same volume of fluid when you pull the lever

forteh
Alrite Now Im going to have to find a different way of doing this I will get it though! It wont work, the relative distances from the pivot to the piston/TPA is too different from the 04 and 05 design. Better to get a fresh products or RB lever

Better to get a fresh products or RB lever Thats where I have also modified it though I had a spare bolt from an onza T-bird crank arm which actually screws into the piston to make it closer the the push rod. It works really well on the koxx but just have a problem with the lever coming in too close to the bar.
Muel
Got any pics? I wanna see this. EDIT: OK, they're showing up now. Edited May 13, 2009 by Muel

It works really well on the koxx but just have a problem with the lever coming in too close to the bar.Thats why it will never work Because the pivot/piston distance on the 04 lever is much bigger than on the 05 you will never get sufficient master cylinder travel to get the pads onto the rim before the lever pulls back too far. Its the same principle as running a hope master cylinder on maggie slaves (assuming you had a brake fluid that was compatible with both) because of the different ratios in the cylinder sizes the lever will pull to the bars and the pads will move a fraction of the distance required. trials_pimp
Nope.Whats the Point? They are your brakes, you realy alot on them. If they dont work properky you get hurt.So spend some money on them, use proper parts.Even if you have got it to fit, the logistics of the 2 levers is totaly wrong. It was doomed from the start. It was doomed from the start. Its actually spare parts found in my shed so there really is nothing lost in doing this. However I actually found enough parts to make a complete brake and im going to build it up and see how well it works.
