Orgun_Donor
Ok, so i know the linear slick outer cables are sweet, but techicnially speak what is the difference between the Linear slick and the click cables?
Luke Rainbird
From what I remember, the linear cables mean the outer is made from a dozen or so wires running lengthways along the outer as opposed to coiled round like on a cheaper cable. This means it doesn't compress on bending/kinking/heavy braking which adds more resistance to the lines. The Slic part refers to the inner, so if it doesn't say "linear" then you're just getting a better quality (not sure in what way off the top of my head) inner.Linear outers + pretty much any inner + lube it right = success
casualjoe
I ordered a linear outer yesterday after our wee chat, Darren your demo on how stiff yours was won me over.
Orgun_Donor
Yea was just having a chat with a bike shop in exeter, basically the same as the gear cable they use, so can get it really cheap, and good quality linear outer. i think he said about £2 per metre or so. Revolver
When I ditch my gears, I'll get a linear slick front cable, then it's footjam tailwhip time...

Mark W
Ive just paid 7 quid, arg! I know im gettin genuine Odyssey shizz thoughThe Odyssey stuff isn't like the gear cable biz - it's actually a coil/wrap kinda deal, so it helps keep it's shape better (less kinks). Just means when you do a couple of barspins your cable doesn't bind like the normal £2.99-ish slick cables do, so you are getting a better quality cable, but it might be a bit overkill if you're not really going to be binding your cable up at all. sstein
When I ditch my gears, I'll get a linear slick front cable, then it's footjam tailwhip time...Why not just run it through the steerer? Also for those of you that do a get a linear cable get the gusset one, it's a bit pricey but it is well worth it, it is by far the stiffest outer I have ever used, much more so than the oddysey one! Revolver
I'll need a special star-nut for that, won't I? I have echo forks, the steerer is f**king thick.

Revolver
I might do. I might learn them on my other bike first, it has no front brake to worry about
