ogre
i had a rim do that a while ago, i didn't realise and it chomped a V out of my pads (waste of cousts ) it'll be fine for a few rides, but check it after you do anything silly to see if it's getting worse... forteh
your the biggest girl i know though Re-rimming a wheel is really easy....Buy a new rim (prefereably the one that uses the same spokes).Tape it to your existing rim with the valve in the same place and the spoke holes in the same orientation.Undo a spoke at a time and move it across to the new rim, if you do the spokes on the side that the rim is taped to it will be much easier Once all the spokes are transfered over untape the old rim and you should just have a loosely spoked wheel.Bung it into your frame and tighten the spokes evenly until its straight, round and true* in the frame.Get a decent spoke key such as a park and read some guides on wheel trueing - you will be a better human being for doing it yourself***may take multiple attempts.** may or may not be correct. Dave Anscombe
Thats sounds a pretty cool way to do it...i have a decent spoke key i can true rims....just never really tried to build one my selfcheers for the info
forteh
If you can already true then youre sorted, shouldnt take more than 30 mins to do Might be worth picking up a new set of nipples though when you get the rim, also dont forget to lubricate the nipples; whilst the wheel is loosely spoked just drop a spot of oil on the top of each nipple head and it will let you achieve a much tighter tension and stronger wheel. Otacon
Or just learn how to build wheels correctly??Oh he can, he was just giving Dave a guide to do it like that because Dave doesn't know how to build wheels Edited May 12, 2009 by Otacon
forteh
Or just learn how to build wheels correctly??Yes but as doesnt want to learn a to fully lace a wheel (incase it goes wrong and he cant ride) then re-rimming it is a perfectly acceptable alternative. No need to relace it unless his spokes are knackered which Im assuming they arent edit: Ive been building my own wheels for 13 years now Edited May 12, 2009 by forteh
