Scott Gibbs
Im curious to know the different set ups different riders have on thier bikes, ie different levers, hoses, pads ect. I would like to know so i can get an optimal set for a rear magura, and dont end up buying stuff the looks good but works like absolute shite! All in put is appreciated. Thanks guys
Revolver
I have a hs22 lever, braided hose, no booster, koxx brown pads, worn grind. It's not a fantastic brake, I think it has to do with how the pads have worn and the toss lever I've got. I want an 04 levera, and thankfully I know where to get one Water bled, too. Edited May 11, 2009 by Bruce Lee

Muel
09 lever with GU lever blade, filed down the lever stop and filed the lump off for the blade bolt and replaced with a filed down nilock nut, metal TPA.Monty splitter with standard Maggy hose. Two M8/M6 slaves with the line from each splitter going into a nut and shroud. (Much harder to kick the lines off than with barbs).Mixture of water and pro-cool bleed.Tensile mounts filed down so my two bolt Echo booster can be bolted straight onto it with using spacers. Much stiffer and no loss of bite.Heatsink Yellow material in Phatpads backings. Can't get it working how I want though. The lever piston sticks in the body and the pads don't hold well enough. Scott Gibbs
05 maggie, standard hose, Onza Pro-Series pads, Trialtech booster and maggie oil.does fluid really make that much difference? And whats a water bleed? Or am i just being thick?
N.Wood
Fluid makes a difference in the feel of the brake. Oil = thicker, and therefore slightly harder to pull at the lever. Waterbleeds are just running water instead of oil in the brake.

trials_pimp
No a water bleed works fine. The seals on the brake are good enough, they dont leak. Some people do have the brakes freeze in the dead of winter, if bikes are left outside/in cold sheds.Water can move faster than oil so the brakes feel lighter and more responsive, but over time water compresses so you have to bleed them more, or you notice slack in the system, whcih you can take up with the TPA for a while. There is nothing wrong with a proper oil bleed, if done right will work well for ages. Mines been going over a year now without fault.
Matthew62
I won't go back to water for a long time - it caused too many problems and meant there was a lot of maintenance. Theres no point bleeding so often if you don't need to! I use royal blood now which isn't significantly thicker than water so doesn't make a real differance in feel - just means i won't have to bleed my brake for a couple of years...........which is nice!
