What Do You Think Of This Chain Tensioner?

Hi everybody, I bought a trials bike some time ago. This bike used to have gears but my derailleur hanger broke in half so I want to get singlespeed...

So I searched for a chain tensioner on internet and I found this tensioner which is directly placed on the rear base of the bike: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=17621

Official site of Kore bike components (chain reactor characteristics): http://kore-usa.com/products/chain_reactor.html

I just wanted to know your opinion about it. Please let me know!

I used to have one of those years ago when they came out.

They dont really tension the chain, they just raise the Long section on a bike with full gears to stop it rattling.

Its ok, didnt really work very well when I had it. A DCD Was so much better.

No good for trials, it wont offer any chain tension at all. The springs in it are pretty weak. Also the clamp will only fit over small chainstays

would i be right in saying the are designed to be used in conjunction with a sprung tensioner to keep a better chain line and stop your chain jumping off your front ring?

This is just exactly what I want. Thank you all for your answers...

i brought a similar thing from halfords years ago called a jig

its designed to stop the chain from coming off the front chainring but you dont have to shorten your chain

its more for downhill bikes as they need the chain lenth for the gears to work properly
