Guest
is it anything like the new style Pro 2 ? are they reliable ? do they skip ? would a Q/R adaptor thing fit ? Edited May 10, 2009 by Nick pyke :)
Skoze
It's just a proII trials with tartybikes written on it.
Guest
looks very different to the new style one, maybe the camera angle I'll add a picture now. Edited May 10, 2009 by Nick pyke :)
Muel
No, they're identical, maybe you're getting mixed up between 06 and 07+ hub shells?
Rumplestiltskin
Are you proposing that Tartybikes had Hope make a differently designed hub just so they could put their name on it? Why would they do that, and why would Hope do that, when the original pro 2 works fine as it is?I've had one - they're just pro 2's with Tartybikes written on the hubshell. Never had any problems with it - it's identical to the other one I got from crc, but with the additional writing.
Guest
I wanted to know wether it was an 06 or 07 (theew Pro 2 and old Pro 2) i dont know naything about it.
Aaron.Tottman
i think tarty use oil instead of grease on their pro2's. less chance of paws skipping.compaired mine (tarty) to ZHIsam and mine was easily twice as loud!!!but.............i could be wrong??!?!? Muel
Pretty sure yours is an 06, and I think that all the 07s had oil instead of grease.Hope I've been helpful.
Guest
sorry Muel :$ got distracted by Rumples reply. its not mine yet but im not sure wether to buy it (on the cond that he buys kings) or just look out for a Hope Pro 2 trial.
Muel
Generally speaking if a Pro2 works as it should, all is well. Mine started skipping recently and Nick Wood immediately said it would be a snapped spring. Fortunately the jammy b*****d was right, so it cost me about £2 to fix.Parts are really easy to get hold of and are dead cheap, and if you crack the hub shell or strip the drive ring or snap an axle, they tend to just warrenty them straight away.Clean it out when you get it though, the grease slowly works out of the bearings and gets into the pawls/springs. They also tend to get a lot louder with a fresh clean and some nice thin oil in there.
Guest
would you reccomend 4 in 1 (i have no idea ), are they easy to clean (actually open the hub up or do you need a special tool for it ?)
Muel
I just used 3 in 1, works perfect.Nope, just a soft ended hammer and some wooden blocks to rest it on.

Muel
The technical term is to drift the innards out. I can't remember which end you do first or anything though, Hope did a video I think, but it was for the XC version.
Guest
i'll youtube it cos im cool apparently its the 07 Pro 2.
Luke Rainbird
Is there a reason you seem so keen to run the hub with a QR, Nick?
Guest
makes life easy'r for me (i think) so i do not have to mess around in drilling the drop outs to fit the bolts , or Matt skoze lol
Luke Rainbird
Normal dropouts are 10mm, so the bolts should be fine. On the Leeson you may need to drill the inserts to suit the bolt a little but I'd take the bolts over a QR any time
Guest
Ok, well that makes my life easy'r. Thanks Luke
Skoze
I've machined the actual dropouts out to take King HD Bolts, so you can use any hub you like, you just gotta change the insert (that's the genius of the 360 dropout )
Guest
insert ?
Muel
The bit that slots into the frame that allows you to tension the chain.I bet you could get away just by drilling it. Saves you spending money adapting a Pro2 to take QR anyway.
