LordMersey
Im thinking of getting a avid elixir (at a very low price from a mate) is this a good trials brake?I have a budget of about £90. If you could recomend a diffent brake that would be great! Its a front by the waycheers Edited May 9, 2009 by LordMersey
Leistonbmx
Depends what you want. For £90, you could get a maggie, or a low end hydro disc/or cable. What frames it going on?(if back)Front or back? You could just look for one second hand on here, and try to find that persons MSN. ogre
how does the brake perform on his bike? borrow it; see how it performs, can it lock up well? i'd imagine it can modulate very well but you still need it to hold your wheel in place (especially if its on the rear) otherwise you could get a sweet avid bb7 setup for that price bb7s are already really popular in trials (i run them f+r)
Jamie East
Front or rear?Might b ok for the front, but deffinately wouldn't recommend it for the rear. For £90 you could get a 2nd hand Hope mini or Magura Louise, also BB7's are also very gd. echo rider tom
if its for the back then you shouldn't get it you should get a maggy with heat sink padsbut it would be ok for the front

Alex Dark
4 options in my opinion....front vee: cheap, insane power with a grind, barely any modulation.... avid bb7: loads of power good modulation, fairly expensive ( 2nd hand about £30 for a full setup) hop mono trial: expensive, bags of power and modulation;front magura: cheap, easy loads of bits, nooo modulationwell, thats personal opinion ^^ but id say go for rear magura...and a bb7, was pleasanlty suprised by mine, loads of power and i can stoppie it really well
jack101311
I have a hope trials disc and they are a great brake. You can find them second hand working great for around £40.
