bikeperson45
Making the move to singlespeed, will just be using my derailleur as a tensioniser, I have a 22t chainring on the front.I think it's pretty much between 16 or 18 teeth on the back. I ride street most of the time, so would rather have a harder gear to get speed.Anyone have similar gearing? Thanks
Revolver
16 is hard on a 24", so it will be hard on a 26" too.17 might be alright.

jambo
i used to run 22:16 then changed to a 17 because i found it hard work on the back wheel but that was 3 years ago when i had just started.

sstein
I used to use 22:16 and now use 22:18. I am a lot smoother with the 18t rear sproket, but to be honest I am thinking of going back to 16t as I like to hit stuff a bit faster. I say it depends on what you want more to be fast or smooth. Though you can do the same with either, just a bit harder. Just pick one and get used to it.
