stevem
Right,I spent the last 15 minutes typing out what I wanted to say, and managed to erase it, bugger. *Try again*Anyway, I have noticed that most the trials bikes I have seen and reading a few posts it seems that the majority of riders prefer to run rim brakes over disks. Is this just people’s preference or is there a more technical/beneficial reason behind this?I have mainly been riding street, a bit of dirt and downhill. All of which I run disks on because rim breaks n there defence would not been man enough for the task. But now I have just got myself a 2nd hand orange zero which has a Maggie HS33 on the rear without the brake booster. When I use the brake the leaver will sponge to the bars as the brake pushes the frame away from the rim. Now I know I could just fit a brake booster but years ago my 1st bike had HS33’s with the boosters and they still flexed the frame giving me a spongy feel.So this kind of brings me full circle, Am I missing something or is I just preference? If I do get disks I shall be looking at these http://www.wiggle.co.uk/images/hope-techx2-zoom.jpgAny thoughts or advice / experience from you guys would be great as I’m new to trials and trying to get the bike running so I can finally play. Thanks

lewisdaly
for the front, i like the modulation a good disc brake offers over the 'grabby' maguras. that being said i love my rear magura with plazmatics, a booster and a ground rim. i have a hope mini (2001 model) that i love, rebuilt twice, but i love it. chrishayton
Stick with the HS33. Bleed it then get an echo control booster. its 8mm think and works amazingly well. You wont get much if any flex then. Much easier and cheaper than getting a disc, and in my experience more reliable.
