duckwars
Well, I still have not even touched a trials bike, but I'm looking to get into this. I'm looking around to see what to buy, but really I don't hear many negative comments. People seem to be happy with what they got. I'm interested in learning from other peoples errors. What mistakes did you make (as far as purchases go) when you first started riding trials? Maybe bought a 26" when you should have bought a 20"? Maybe bought a bargain bike that really sucked, or an expensive bike that was unnecessary? Bought a new bike when you could have gotten a used bike for a better price?Anything along those lines. I'm really trying to make a very conscious and responsible buy here. I don't have the money to mess up on this purchase.

indianatrials
Just be careful buying used bikes. Make sure you know what waht youre buying. always ask if the threads are stripped, and bearings are good. Those are the two biggest things that you cant see in the pictures. Alex@Flawless Bikes
Tensile chain tensioner, it was sh*t. Bolts all rounded off (I was being careful), couldn't get it to tension my chain properly, then sold it to my mate and he manage to snap it in 10 mins! howard-moon
I'd avoid the xtp's, they break pretty easy.Stick to deng products (echo, gu, czar etc), their usually pretty gd.

I'm really trying to make a very conscious and responsible buy here. I don't have the money to mess up on this purchase.Hi mate, i brought a monty kamel 221 20' about a year ago (costing 1700pound) and now after a year of riding i think im going to move to a 26' stock, as i found the monty to sharp for me, and i like a smooth rideAnd plus for me personally i like the idea of having a larger room for error when gapping onto poles etc.. the larger wheel allows a larger margin for error, if you see what i mean, it gives me more confidence as im self employed, so if im injured, no pay! Well thats how i think of it anyways. Also im 25 years of age now, i should grow up and ride a larger one now.So my advice is, really try all three types 20',24',26', if possable and dont go getting the top of the range one untill you have been riding a year or so and know abit more about how you like to ride.thats from my experiance so far, hope this helps.Dean.
