dirty-boi
Ive been here for a week or so know and I've been reading as much information as I can.I've seen a few bits and bobs about brakes, coming from a BMX back ground hydraulic brakes are new to me, except the ones on my car.I've heard it mentioned a few times the different fluids that people use, like water, screen wash and oil. What do you prefer and why? What are the benefits of each of these different fluids and also whats the downsides of each?I had a thought as well "it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would" would a water/anti-freeze mixture work? Has anyone tried it?As anti-freeze has chemicals in it that prevents the water from rusting/oxidizing the internals of the brakes which unless I'm mistaken a pure water setup would eventually do.Thanks in advance.Adam (dirty-boi)
Typhoon_Rider
HI, Well Water bleeds are favoured because They have better braking efficiency but then there is the problem of freezingin the winter so make sure to put anti-freeze in the mix . People use screen wash becasue it is basically water with anti-freeze lolOil is the original way to use your brakes. It runs really smooth but is rather expensive. Water is probably the better way to go as youcan always get to a tap. Water = Free..... Maggie brake fluid = £3.91.Also if your gonna bleed the brakes yourself your going to need This andThis

indianatrials
Yeah, waters best. But if you want to do it the easier way use plazmatic fluid, its the best Dont use magura blood!
Bingle-anator
water bleed, snappier more responsive than oil, they do freeze but its nothing to worry about when it happens, plus its easier to bleed (do it in the bath it wirks beeeast)bingle
