weebryan
I heard a few people got to try these at koxx days could be intersting and the elite have been running them aswel. Also gilles has proto tyres and stems for stock and mod for benitokoxx es
N.Wood
Still not convinced they were running proto Try-All tyres, but there we are...Freewheel sounded pretty nuts!
Ali C
they are proto tyres. They deffo don't grip like Kenda tyres anyway!
manuel
180 just seems rediculous - shouldn't they just have concentrated on getting the 108 point super reliable ?
Muel
180 EPs? Haha, that's just asking for trouble. Theres no need for that many surely? I realise that they're the best riders in the world, but surely they don't need that many.A 72 EP ffw is too many for me, I can't feel them engage properly! Give me a Tensile or Pro 2 any day. basher
ino the freewheels are just protos at the moment, but theres not a hope in hell im running one of them. the koxx team at koxx days where running them and gilles and vinces where skipping all the time from what i saw. so thats not really promising when most likely the freewheels wern't that old. and this is the part i didn't get, they have a freewheel with a stupid amount of pickups yet they can't even set the bikes up with decent chain tension. gilles and vinces bike and really slopey chains so there not even taking any advantage of the freewheel and most average riders bikes proberly pickup quicker then theres just because of the chain. N.Wood
Their chains are like that for a reason bro, not because they can't set up bikes...
Tha Goat
Just curious, but reason might that be?
N.Wood
Bit more slack for half pedal ups and stuff, gives more momentum before the freewheel engages giving a tiny bit more power. Also for really short run ups where they can back pedal a bit before the freewheel engages to give effectively a bit more run up. I guess the question of 'why don't they just use shit freewheels' comes up, but it gives them the choice of having a nice fast engagement or a not so fast engagement, depending on preload. Ali C
who told you that? I had always though they were lazy slackers who didn't tighten their chains

N.Wood
Really? I dunno, I'm just going on what he said - I don't see any reason why alot of them wouldn't bother to tighten their chains. Pretty much all of the Super Elites and some of the Elites at Koxx days were running their chains slack. Must be some reason behind it, unless you have other ideas? Ali C
well ok, he's not a compulsive liar...but he is French!I just thought their chains had stretched and they were too busy riding to adjust them, but I guess you have heard it from the frog's mouth
N.Wood
Well you never can trust the French, you're right to be cautious haha!
MiuSliS
If Hermance was running the proto fw during K-days,than i'm not keen on it. I heard it skip while Hermance was riding.
Dave Anscombe
Koxx Really need to sort their freewheels out......not by giving them more egp....but just improving design ..The previous 108.9 i thought was responsive enough just skiped like a school girl on speed
weebryan
I found that a really tight chain causes the fw to skip more and also wears the bearings quicker due to more load and does not spin as freely making it sticky and yea feels better on run ups , just preferance i guess
Davetrials
a really tight chain cause freewheels to die a death...also i had every freewheel on the market and the koxx was by the besteno being the worst.
Mark W
180 just seems rediculous - shouldn't they just have concentrated on getting the 108 point super reliable ?Since when has reliability been any kind of concern for Koxx/Try-All? Captain Scarlet
I'm satisfied with my 108 freewheel, I've had it for 1 and 1/2 years, and not had any; skips, funky noises, bits coming loose, or general agro that my Eno gave me.If they made the 108 freewheel serviceable (then again this would make the lockring not as reliable), it would easily be the best freewheel on the market. Joe@Onza
The second pic looks a lot like the Tensile 96 click freewheel,The fact it has the Shimano BB remover system and the fact its 96.6 clicks. Ah well.........Take it as a compliment I guess.

Greetings
Yeah but if you think about it, what they're doing is pretty clever. If a 36ep freewheel skips, it skips to the next pawl engagement which is 1/36 of a rotation.A 180 which skips all the time, will only skip 1/180 of a rotation. That's 2 degrees god dammit! Well below freezing if you think Fahrenheit, but why would you. Celsius is the way forward.
