Lovebadger
Apologies for another post asking for advice for a beginners bike. I want to spend about £500 or less on a 26 incher and have a few options:ONZA T-RexONZA CleanerMAD Phase 1.2SARACEN MAD TEAM SUPER PRO TRIALS BIKE (on eBay, apparently was £1200 now £400?!? is this genuine?)Are any of these any good for an 11 stone beginner who won't be doing any big jumping, just a few street tricks (I'm getting a bit old for anything too dangerous!)Thanks for any advice, I'm desperate to have a go! I'll let you know how I get on.Cheers
Harris
My friend has the phase 1.2, rides well, really light, which is always good. If you get one though, be sure to change the hub and take it singlespeed.Tom
MAX (M.A.D)
The phase range are light but are realy weak, I know 3 people who have snapped their frame all in the same place, on the chain stay, driver side and they were only about 7 stone.I would advise the latest Onza T-Rex as a good starter bike as they are realy strong and feel nice when riding if you have a nice set up. jsc
To be honest with you, you would be better getting one of the Onza's. The T-rex is an older bike, but better spec than the cleaner. The other option is to find a really nice high spec 2nd hand bike for £500ish Goodluck! Typhoon_Rider
Sorry but i dont agree the phase is light. out of all my mates bikes I think that its the heaviest oneI have been on. Having said that they are pretty weak aswell. And I dont know if its heavy justbecause its was all standard apart from the rear wheel. Aside from the weight I think its an awsomebeginers bike to learn on. I would definatly go with an onza though as a fair few of my mates have themand they ride really well and are pretty light and strong or just get validated on here and get a second hand koxx frame or ZOO (have herd zoo frames are pretty light). Luke_zoo
I have a onza t-rex for my very first stock bike it was heavy on the back wheel but light on the frunt but it depends on how oyu want your bike to ride IMO.
txt2007
not read the thread or post at all really, sorry, but trex's are perfect for learning on, and the fact that i'm selling a mint condition hardly used trex has nothing to do with that.Theyre not the gretest bike but for learning they are. bikeperson45
ONZA T-RexONZA CleanerMAD Phase 1.2SARACEN MAD TEAM SUPER PRO TRIALS BIKE (on eBay, apparently was £1200 now £400?!? is this genuine?)Out of these bikes, I would go for the Phase. I know Nick Manning rides one, so that says something. They're good frames and have a great geomatry (to me anyway).Don't get the Saracen what ever you do. The T-Rex wouldn't be a bad choice either, they're really strong, but way a bit more
onza boy27
I would definitely go for the t-Rex it was my first bike and I loved it to bits I am going to build my back up in fact.Josh.
pogo
Get a good spec second hand bike that way there's a much greater number of bikes to choose from.
