Sprog!
I thought I'd start a topic for, questions, answers, tips and help for athodontist work.I'm in the middle of it at the minute so i have a few questions:. Is it really as bad as people say?. What's the point in not eating between meals?. How long does it take once you've had the brace put in to be able to prenounce your s's again ?. Does it effect your biking in any way (breathing)?

I've just carried on as normal.I had a bite plate, took me about 3 weeks to get s's back, but i got it taken a few months later which was epic! It just takes time/ practice, i hardly spoke in those weeks so it took a lot longer.Doesn't affect me at all, apart from having caught them on my face a few times when i've f**ked something up

Guest
you made it sound as if your having your head chopped off. a few of my mates have braces. They arnt a big deal. Unless your name is simon or sam, just brace yourself
Captain Scarlet
So long as you can talk normally before they go on, then you will have no problems speaking (after a day or so).Have you had a retainer before?, I had one which was to settle my teeth in until an actual brace, I actually found that more annoying and painful than the brace itself.Only other thing I will say is don't eat toffee when its in, just ripped the crown bit right off my tooth. Mikey Tomo
I'm getting mine in a few weeks Is the pain really bad after they get tightened? And I thought there was certain foods you couldn't eat like cakes and biscuits.
Tom_
Basically there not that bad, look kinda gash but your getting straight teeth and ultimatly the time goes pretty fast. Overall its worth it. They hurt and feel wank for the first day or so but then you get used to it and its fineeee. Ermmm yea, just man up. I was bricking it before I got mine, mostly due to the gimp looking factor, but its not that bad.My tops are coming off in under a week... Bottom teeth are still raped so there getting ground down and stuff. Possibly the most retarded post Iv ever made. You get the idea though. Sprog!
Another question:I've got fangs (literally) that they will have to take out before they give me braces. When they give you the injections in your mouth surely because of the pain you'de bite down on the needle and snap it?
Pashley26
Don't smoke with them on ! I've got little white spots from where I did, and then had them removed. Now I've stopped smoking and brush 3 times a day the little white squares are going away haha
Hannah Shucksmith
I thought I'd start a topic for, questions, answers, tips and help for orthodontist work. I'm in the middle of it at the minute so i have a few questions: . Is it really as bad as people say? When I had mine, I hated them at first, they ached for a week, but I began to like them when I began seeing results. Each time I had them tightened, they ached for a few hours, and then they were fine. I often got a small cut on the side of my cheek where my braces rubbed, but that could be sorted with a small piece of wax - they provide that. I also had the elastics, they were painful for a week or so, but they were fine over that. So glad I had it done, I didn't realise how bad my teeth were until I saw the before and after results. . What's the point in not eating between meals? What? . How long does it take once you've had the brace put in to be able to prenounce your s's again? I could pronounce my S's straight away. . Does it effect your biking in any way (breathing)? I had NO problem with breathing. I don't ride, but my braces didn't change anything. I also got told not to eat toffee, chewing gum or anything you can't cut with an ordinary table knife, was also told not to drink fluids that stain your teeth, like coffee and tea, and not to drink fizzy drinks; whilst it wasn't the best thing to do, I ignored that, and did it anyway - it made no difference to the results. Mike W
I had one on for a year and then had a retainer thingbrace was fine apart from i messed about with it loads and broke it all the time.retainer did actually affect my riding cause it pissed me off not being able to feel the top of my mouth, makes concentrating harder to be honest.well worth it after like
Simpson
I spent 2 years on the programme, teeth were perfectly straight, then my dog ate my retainer, by the time i got another appointment my teeth were all buggsy again, oh well
Tomm
I had a couple of teeth taken out, then braces for 18 months or so.Feels pretty sore at first (and every time they tighten it) but it only lasts a day or so and it's certainly not too painful that it'll stop you doing anything. The worst part was having teeth out beforehand, for sure. They inject your gums with a local anaesthetic and it does sting pretty but it's nothing you can't get over - only the same as having a filling. I had elastic bands on my braces too. No headgear though The day I got everything taken off - oh my word - such a strange feeling! I couldn't get over how smooth and empty my mouth was. Good times. And in the long-run, definitely worth it.
