Tom Booth
Built a new enclosure for the torts over the past few nights, 16ftx7ft, split down the middle to seperate the 2 species... Russian tort side, theres a plastic coated wire mesh 'cage' buried about 8" in the ground to stop him digging out... Leopards side, I'll be getting some turf in there soon for the to graze on. Just a hinged lid to make now. Bought some plastic netting thats used to cover pomds to stop birds getting at them, so I'll be using that to keep them safe. Need to finish off around the front too so it doesn't just look like a box in the garden . Heres what Ralph thought to it thou...

dann2707
Regarding the tortoise area. Couldn't a bird come in there and f**k shit up? And potentially take off with your tortoise thingy?

forteh
Dragons arent really my thing but... Ideally you should cover the back and ends of the tank with a background to stop the dragon glass dancing so much. Also a full length UVB strip is much better suited than compacts because they can distribute the light over a wider area, even better if you can add a reflector. The dragon should also be able to get to within 12" of the UVB source at all points of the tank. I would also say s/he could do with a deeper tank, that looks like a 4x1x1.5 fish tank, typically a 4x2x2 is minimum recommended for a single adult dragon. Wooden vivs also retain heat much better than glass so works out cheaper in the long run Not trying to pick holes, honest :$
Adam-Griffin
I'm getting on the background tomorrow, just haven't had time to get to the pet shop yet.. Also got a strip bulb but i'm going to let the coil run it's course before i stick it in there. In all fairness, it probably could do with being a bit bigger but he's happy enough, and it's bigger than his last one. I've got another viv upstairs that I'm working on at the minute, just need to get some perspex for the doors and then it's good to go. He spends most of his time outside the viv anyway haha. forteh
Coolies, would recommend getting glass for the doors, especially if its for a glass dancer (beardie) as it doesnt scratch anywhere near as much as perspex My OH got me a kenyan sand boa for my birthday on saturday, no decent photos yet but hes a cool brown and orange
Tom Booth
Dunno if anybody on here is interested but recently I've been putting the feelers out for reptile housing/tort tables in the local area. Sold a few which has been nice. Just made this for somebody local to house a hatchling tortoise, 2x2ft table. Flat packs away an comes apart in about 30 seconds for easy cleaning. Incredibly simple but it does the job perfect. I can make anything really up to 10ft square if really needed. So yeah, anybody interested in a tortoise table/viv/Anything feasible made from wood gimme a shout! Few pictures of previous projects... Little Yoshi
Adam does your beardy make a b line for cold dark places? When ever I let mine out and about she wonders around abit then hides under the couch. Which re-sults in me calling a mate round so one can lift it up and the other to grab her out. Yeaaaah, he likesto get behind my tv cabinet, underneath the bean bag etc.. One of the joys of having my own house, is that i no longer need to ask mummy and daddy what pets i can and can't have; Soon to be making this his permanent residence: However, still my baby <3 :
LukasMcNeal
I don't want to sound like a retard here but I have always wondered what the spikes on there necks/heads feel like? Are they like spikey bones or flesh?
Adam-Griffin
It's a bit difficult to describe, they are spikey, but only if you were to squeeze them? Because of the way they're joined to there body, they're almost squidgy. The spikes them selves are solid, but the skin moves...? That probably makes absolutely no sense at all, but it's the best explanation i can think of haha. In a nut shell, they're perfectly fine to handle and the chances are you won't hurt your self on them.
