Duncy H
Hi there,I have been fiddling with my bar and stem combo for quite a while now but still don't think I've got it mastered yet. I currently have an 07 echo team short with some echo lites. For bars I am running try-all rage bars and I'm keeping them as they are I think, so I'd like to know the most suitable stem. For stems I currently have a try-all oversized stem and monty pr stem to choose from or may get a new one if it will be the right thing to do. I'm just 15 so am still growing and am not the biggest from the bunch(id say average) and I do all the different styles of riding so would need the best compromise. Thanks for any help. trialschallenger
in my opinion there isnt a right and wrong stem and handle bar combo, your best bet would be to ride as many peoples bikes as possible(with similar geo to yours) to find out what feels best for you.ive run short stems long stems medium stems short bars long bars riser bars trials bars the lot,and ive finaly settled on riser bars with a monty stem but on the other hand my mate found his perfect combo first time he bought a stem and handle bar combo, just get out there and fiddle. Duncy H
Any other help? Although I think now I am going to use the try-all stem.
cai
Get an echo stem perhaps? Seeing as the geo of them will of been made to complament your frame - doesn't help that theres like a thousand stems being made at the moment by Echo though Its all personal preference though, if your Monty stem is too low then try a higher rise one - if your stem is too short for example buy a longer one. Its trial and error really..
omgnoseat
I have a question regarding stems aswell.I´m moving from a monty 221PR to an echo lite, the only difference in geo is that the echo has 10mm higher bb. The monty uses a 25x150mm stem.I ordered a 25x160mm stem for my echo, how similiar would the 2 bikes feel to eachother? I'm afraid that the front end will be harder to lift up using the 160mm stem on my echo.
MikeCottTrials
changing it wont make any difference to your riding ability, just put the one on that is most comfortable
omgnoseat
changing it wont make any difference to your riding ability, just put the one on that is most comfortableI understand, but I was talking about the feeling of the bike by the change in geo of the stem. The stem is longer, so I would think that it would make the front end harder to lift up?
