trialsmax04
Hi, As title says really. I am a beginer and ive just been generally practicing in my garden. Thing is, after a while (bunnyhoping up stairsets), i get mega cramp in my right foot (fowards foot). Its really annoying as it starts to hurt so much i have to stop. Does anyone know how to combat this?Cheers Max
Dave!
I was always told eating bananas helps stop gramps. Dont know if this was a total lie, but hey more potassium. Edited April 13, 2009 by Dave!
Revolver
I think a lack of calcium ions in your muscle cells causes more frequent cramp.Something like that. Calcium ions are responsible for releasing the muscle, which is what's not happening when you have cramp. Its the same as rigor mortis. Dave!
was interested, so wacked it into google...."If your leg cramps occur during or immediately after exercise, this may be a sign your muscles aren't getting an adequate supply of oxygen, or that toxic chemicals produced by the activity of busy muscles aren't being cleared fast enough from the area. For most people who are otherwise healthy, this is a common problem while the muscles get used to an increased amount of exercise, and it should settle as the body adapts to this new healthy habit. But leg cramps may be a sign of arteriosclerosis (or 'hardening of the arteries'), where the arteries are clogged by fatty deposits, limiting the supply of blood to the muscles."it may help. trialsmax04
Thanks guys,Im going to try to drink more and eat the bananas. Im always getting moaned at by the missus for not drinking enough (the hydrating kind!). Im not the fittest guy in the world, but i shouldnt have arteriosclerosis. Im only 16 . I try and eat healthy, and have a balanced diet. Anyway, thanks for all the advice.Cheers Max
Lord Banks
I read in a XC article that if you feel thirsty, you're already dehydrated. They recommended that you drink a litre of water every hour when riding XC, so it'll be the same for Trials (if not more!).You can also get supplements to put in water, I've got some 'Zym' electrolyte drink tablets - "for fatigue, muscle cramps & lactic acid". They work quite well, don't taste so good though.
Ali C
I get really bad foot cramp. I don't drink enough really, but I also found slighty stiffer shoes help and Skins compression pants help too.
forteh
I sometimes get bad cramps at the front of my foot (just behind the ball of the foot) and it usually seems to happen if Im wearing softer soled trainers. Likewise I get cramps in my hands if my bars are in the wrong position.
MikeCottTrials
I sometimes get cramp in my forward foot, seems to be only when im quite tired though which leads me to think its to do with my posture at the time
trialsmax04
Yes! Its the cramp just behind the ball of my foot! I might have to try some stiffer shoes. I only wear an old pair of flimsy trainers at the moment. This cant be helping. Thankyou for all the advice.Max
