elliott the onza man
my dad used an angle grinder to grind my rim today and it hasn't come out very sharp, how do you make it a more harsh grind. Thanks, Elliott
Connor Powell
What kind of disc are you using? I find the disc that gives a better grind is the thin metal cutting disk, I use a disc that is 0.8mm Thick. Get one of those on your angle grinder and try again. The Angle plays a big part aswell if your going in at an angle like this: / (45`) will give a lighter and not very sharp grind. If you can go in at an angle like this ¦ (90`) it will give a much deeper and sharper grind.Heres the discs i use : http://www.screwfix.com/prods/71334/Abrasi...-22mm-Pack-of-5And heres a tutorial on grinding : http://thrashed.blip.tv/file/280326/
lewisrzoo
There is a cutting and a grinding and just keep it going all the way round but do take brakes or youre hand keeps vibrating after
DannyBaz
Get an old wheel, and practice different techniques and angles, until you find one that suits you. Also, make sure your grinding disc is sharp... A blunt disc will effect the sharpness of the grind.

Dr.scratchensniff
If you can put the wheel in a vice, clamping the axle so the wheel can turn.I'd say use a cutting disc and hold it at a slight angle (steep angle to the rim surface and if you look along the disc, not quite pointing towards the center of the wheel)This will cause the wheel to turn, causing the grind to be nice and even all along the wheelThen just keep cutting till its rough. But obviously not enough to actually weaken or damage your rim.Practice with an old wheel is a good idea. pogo
Grind it like you mean it or you'll have to redo it after each ride. What rim is it btw?
Muel
I take the wheel out and tyre off, and stand it upright and hold it between my knees and my left hand so it's facing foward, then use my right hand to swing the grinder downwards at it. I find this allows me to get a nice steep angle and I can swing it fast, getting the grind nice and deep.
Eppsy
Practice on an old wheel first, the bigger the angle of incidence between the disc and rim the sharper the grind will be, your best bet is to clamp your wheel in a vice, spin it at a constant speed and grind lightly whilst its spinning, gives a nice even and sharp finish
Ali C
I find it best to leave the tyre on and just push it out of the way when grinding, otherwise you get gunk from your tyre onto the rim which massively reduces the grinds function.
