Captain Scarlet
If you follow the steps I put above, it will solve the problem... (Sorry for bump, just had to search for this thread for a customer and thought I'd add another reply). I didn't get much joy out of the steps above, but I can only assume I didn't get enough of the paint off. Either way, this problem went away by itself whilst riding, moral of the story. I'm a pansy. davey1991
You have tried tightening the rotor bolts just in case, haven't you?
AdamR28
Pretty sure that's one of the first things people would try, although it doesn't actually make a noise if your rotor is loose.
psycholist
Loose rotor bolts or caliper bolts are obvious thanks to the extra movement they allow the wheel while the brake is on. Sanded the backs of the pads last night - it took all of 30 seconds with a sanding disk I had around. Can't believe how thick the paint on the back of the pads is - no wonder they could move so easily. Brake is already a bit quieter after heading out for an hour on it afterwards... Captain Scarlet
You have tried tightening the rotor bolts just in case, haven't you? As said, my problem is sorted now, but it wasn't the rotor as the wheel moved with the pad wobble itself.
mods
I've had major pad wobble on my front brake after cleaning a lubing it. It sounded like the headset was shot. Anyway tried adams method and it made an instant difference! It still does however still creak a bit. Anyone know how long it will take for the pads to 'bed' in? Borat
2/3 days or full riding worth.
mods
Nice one, cheers. Fingers crossed. Nothing worse than a creaky bike
