ginger allen echo
Well what pads are you using? Are you using them on a grind? Smooth rim? Smooth rim with tar?
monkeyseemonkeydo
Most important question is: Does your brake work? If it holds and is quiet then to be honest you've got it made. I much prefer a quiet brake because it makes everything seem so much smoother (a few years running double disc is testament to that). It takes a bit of getting used to but when you do it's so nice not to be embarrassed to pull your brake in public!

Never heard of them. The reason why you are gettin no sound outa your brakes is cause it's a smoooth rim. If you want the squeel get some decent trials pads and either grind your rim or use tar on your rim. Try Tartybikes or the Heatsink website, Heatsink make some awsome pads. sstein
I never get brake squeel on my HS33. I have used all sorts of grinds, as well as a smooth rim and rock blues as well as phat pads. I get more squeel from my front disc.
Dave!
Sure the frog pads are for ceramic rims?"Green Frog - Performance pads for all hard anodized(black) and ceramic rims offering greater stopping power particularly in wet conditions."Anywho, try some tryall croco pads if you want some grunt. (with a grind)But! if you like your rim, then could go for a softer compound with tar?hope this helped. Edited April 12, 2009 by Dave! monkeyseemonkeydo
I've yet to try them but I've heard great things about Phat Pads. On both smooth rims and ground everyone seems to love them. And yes, Green Frogs were available back in the day but are proper hard compound for XC in the wet and mud. Get some nice trials pads on and you'll be away .
