ogre
Thought i'd do a little tutorial on truing rims, this is probably more usefull for dual disk riders (who don't have brake pads to give them an idea what true is) and the newbs who aren't used to fidling with spokes. So you will need: Spoke key Forks with 4 bolt mounts 4 bolt clamps and bolts allen keys an untrue wheel! Now flip your forks upside down, and put the magura clamps in the mounts BUT Put them on the wrong way round only bolt them in one end (the end closest to the crown)Like this:Ok now pop your wheel back in the forks, and spin the wheel, slowly turn the magura clamps back round onto the rim untill the are skuffing the corners of your rimthis will make any slight buckles on your rim obvious, and give you a guide to dealing with any big wobbles Once you have found a buckle, you need to tighten the correct spokes.que diagramif you need this one explaining, the thick black line at the top is the hub, the thiner smaller line is the rim, the red and blue lines represent the spokesThe rim is a bit to far to the right, it needs to move left, so the spokes on the left hand side (red) are tightened, pulling the wheel over and the spokes on the right (blue) are loosened, taking some tention from the wheel Make sure you make small adjustments to the spokes and keep spinning the wheel past the mount to check how much it has moved. When your doing this the first few times, it really pays off to take your time have fun. Edited April 20, 2009 by ogre
