Bol Maaaaaaing
I've been thinking about back brakes.I have duel disks at the moment and it has been causing me to be a bit scared at doing side hops, seeing as I jump up to the disk side.I get scared because I think that if I dont get my back wheel high enough I will land on my disk and bend and/or snap it.If I got a Hs33 then I would get the fame, instead of the disk.I just want to know if when you have a Hs33 and your wheel is buckled do they lose power or end up being a disadvantage over disks? What should I do?Thanks guys
Muel
You ride Mod, I never managed to hit my rotor on my mod, just stick with the disc. If you bend it, just bend it back! It won't snap unless you fold it in half. It might crack though.
Dave Anscombe
Hs 33 with good pads .....best thing ever.....if you have a bad buckle.......just true it up
Aaron.Tottman
learn to hop to the right?i've landed on my front rota before never snapped one, bent it a little. nothing that a ejustable spanner won't fix!!!
hdmackay
Definately get HS33's.They are cheaper than disks, they don't brake as easy, they are soooo simple to set-up, you don't have to worry about bending them when sidehopping. And they give a nice loud noise so you know they are always holding. trialschallenger
go for magura's if your that worried bout bending the disc,i used to run disc on the back and i never thought bout bending it .go for hs33 medium grind and some good pads and if your wheel is buckled true it up. Bol Maaaaaaing
But with the Hs33, Do you have to replace the rim very often from grinding?Sounds like it would be bad on the rim, grinding it.
Guest
logically, it would weaken the rim but most probably not some how seing as many profesional trials riders uses grinds, but they do get free rims.
that NBR dude
Yes grinding does weaken the rim, but most people tend to replace the rim before it gets too weak anyway.Ive run double disc on many frames, 20" and 26" street and natural, and I've never hit a rotor once, and I sidehop to the disc side as well. If you are worried about it, try riding normally for a while first, then if you find you have bent/broken a rotor reasily, then try an HS33. Theres no point spending out for something that may never happen.
eskimo
A cheaper approach would be to alter your sidehop technique. Unless your hopping onto a rail there's actually no need to land perfectly parallel. Put more angle on the landing then you won't slip onto the chainstay and/ or disk.
