Otacon
Hey, Just wondering, stripped the thread in my brake mounts, just wondering what kind of place would do such a job ? My sisters boyfriends a area manager fro Kwikfit, and i could get it done free there (if they do it im not sure) and he's not answering his phone to ask him, any idea if Kwikfit would have a hellicoiling system ?If not any reccomendations for the type of place i should try ?Thanks. mr ailsbury
Think you litterally just put the stuff in the hole and then tap a new thread out with the thing to the right size

Si-man
Think you litterally just put the stuff in the hole and then tap a new thread out with the thing to the right sizeNo, they dont. Helicoils are thread inserts
Captain Scarlet
Any engineer capable of engine rebuilds (car, motorbikes, etc) will be able to helicoil it for you (or at least know someone who can).I took my frame to a performance motorbike engineer, he helicoiled 2 holes for a fiver. Its really not worth buying the kit if your only going to use it once (as you will need; a drillbit and therefore drill to remove your exisiting thread, a tap/die of the correct size, and the helicoils themselves)
weebryan
I have done then loads of times and im a diesl engine builder/repairer. They are real easy to do1. Drill hole out with drilled supllied by the kit2. Tap out the hole using the tap supplied by the kit 3. Use tool to insert coil and screw it down then break of tab 4 Job doneor find a local machine shop/garage enginer place and get them to do it
