mr manx man
I have been riding for a long time now and have got to the pointwhere i am hopping on, up and over the same things for quiet some time, unfortuanatly the other lines available are just a bit too big and involve a bit more skill than i have, so i am just wondering if anyone has any advice on what i should do.Cheers Scott

Practice what you can do, like if you have pallets keep making the gap bigger each time or drop etc etc. If you think you could just do it. Go for it! Luke Rainbird
Find some stuff that's a bit bigger than what you're doing now, but not so big as the stuff that's too big?Best bet if you can't do that is to work on getting smoother, more controlled and more creative with what you have. Hit things in a different way, link stuff together. Go out and every line you do, do it backwards too. Learn to ride switch. Do things from static, do things from rolling. Spin in the opposite direction. Bunnyhop instead of pedalling. Go to front instead. Sidehop the other way. Don't use the brakes for a section. If you put your mind to it, there's plenty of ways to keep things fresh

Ali C
you will never progress if you only do stuff you can do. All the top riders will be trying stuff that is just out of reach....yes they will fall off, but if they keep trying they will know whats they need to do to make it. One day it will click and you will make the move! Also, a positive mental attitude goes a long way! Don't look at the hard stuff and think "there's no way I can make this", you won't make it with that attitude. Instead, think "there's no way I am NOT going to make this", be confident. It works REALLY well!

Nickkkkk
i find i have to almost syke myself up when i'm pushing myself to do something that is just out of reach. I start by thinking positively by knowing that i can do it, then have an attempt and if i fall i get more and more determined. If i don't manage it i know the next day i will ride that line a bit better. As Ali was saying it just clicks when you make the move for the first time Edited April 3, 2009 by Nickkkkk

DannyBaz
When I can't get up a wall, rock etc. I try it a few times, then if i honestly can't do it, leave it and come back to it. I feel this helps a hell of a lot. Another thing I do, is approach it at different speeds and angles, until I get it. Then when I do get something it feels great ! bikeperson45
I got to a stage where I had the basic skills down, but wasn't able to apply them, then one day i went out and just tried everything.Sometimes it worked (smug grins) and others it didn't (frown) but found myself improving a lot faster

mr manx man
Well all suggestions have been taken into consideration cheers, i would love to be riding now but weather isn't too good over here.I think it's just a case of thinking about thigs more and like people have said, dont look at something and automatically think i cant do that, ive said the same thing about a wall once and i actually got round to doing it so almost everything is possible if not everythingCheers scott
