4 Finger Lever Blades (hs33)

J9s one did the same thing Dave, they reckoned it was because of the lever she was running.

I don#t see the point in them, they make your brake spongier, and can crack your frame, and they just feel like a standard maggy blade on your finger? Give me a 07- Deng blade any day. :P

i know in theory that its poss they can do damage.,....

i think the reason why my koxx xtp2 cracked is due to using a longer lever than whats supplied with the hs33.......

share your thoughts on this.......pro riders info is what im idealy after

The reason it cracked is all in the brand ;)

Having a longer leaver is not going to crack your frame because there's more push at the pads.

Having a longer leaver is going to give you more power, but it'll accentuate the sponginess of the system. You'll also have to set your pads closer to the rim becuase of this. It's kind of a cheap, pointless way to make your brake better, really you should be looking into a better bleed, better pads, better breaking surface. Or maybe even a better brake if your not happy with whatever your using. I suggest a hope mono trial 203mm.

Clearly it's putting more pressure into the pads, with the blade being about 30% longer, so the frame has all that extra force flexing the frame apart, and these frames clearly arn't up to it.

Rankin run a Koxx XTP2 with the long magura lever blades, he had that bike for nearly a year and was fine on him (and he is a huge rider).

The advantage I'd go for in a longer lever blade is ease of pulling the lever, so in a section it takes less effort to hold the brake on and reduced chances of cramp or arm pump.

They can't make your brake better as there is only a terminal amount of force the brakes can give when braking, and therefore any extra force will be lost elsewhere (such as the frame or booster).

That is a VERY good point, if your frame is flexing because of your brakes then no matter how much force you put through it your frame is always going to suck that extra power out.

Also a 30% longer lever means more flex on everything past that lever (in the braking system). Which is just "sponginess".

Just get a better frame, or a mental booster.

Probably already know and have made your mind up about that though ?

Thus, cracking the frame. :P

If the booster and frame are stiffer, more pressure gets get through the pads into the rim though, because rather than flexing the frame apart and the lever squishing to your finger, it transfers the extra pressure in the pad, deforming it more to the grind.

That's my theory anyway.
