Muel
Onza Rip? It won't fit on the rear, it's the wrong spacing.Stick with front freewheel, suits mods better IMO. (You can get a profile, but they need maintaining carefully and I've known a lot of people who trashed them).

mr_malcolm
You wont really find many places that do hope any cheaper as there is minimal mark up on them. There nice parts but companys dont make anywhere near as much on them as they do other brands, and as stated it wont fit in the rear of a mod. [And don't say Chris King ]I wouldn't say a King, they're none of those things if you ask me. They did make a prototype Pro2 mod hub with the intent of putting them into production, but I havn't heard any more about it. Maybe try phoning them?Pro2 Trials are a stock hub, they are for a 135mm spaced frame (gap between the dropouts), whereas as mods are 116mm. (apart from Montys, they're 110mm I think).I'd try ringing hope and see if you can blag one, it'd be far better than any other mod hub. (If you ask me, some people prefer profiles, some kings, all for different reasons).Seriously though, if you've got a Tensile FFW and fixed rear, just leave it, it's not worth it until you've upgraded the rest! The standard forks, bar, stem, front brake, cranks, wheels (almost everything basically) are good for beginners on a budget bike, but they're heavy parts, your money would be better spent on forks, bar and stem first if you ask me!Hope I've helped. I always thought Chris King's were the loudest things going And yeah that's a pretty good plan mate, will try and find a number for them tonight. And I would be upgrading everything you've listed there pretty much immediately after i buy a nice hub.to be honest, i only really want a nice strong Hope for the noise it makes. You may find it strange, but to me, louder is better So if there's any hub you can reccomend for what i like, that would be great also Thanks for the info mateJames

JonMack
I always thought Chris King's were the loudest things going Why is the noise important?
Muel
Inspires confidence? My Pro2 does anyway. Get really annoying when your pushing along though. Same as a magura, a loud really bitey magura inspires more confidence than a silent one with no bite. (For me anyway, obviously everyone is different). JonMack
I like my hub to make noise so I can gauge my speed, but that's about it, I don't see why people think louder hub = better. Obviously if you fill your hub with grease its gonna be silent and shit, but stripping it of all grease doesn't really help at all, just means it's more likely to wear out and die. Muel
I think running it with no grease or anything is stupid, mine is one of the 07 ones I think which were assembled with oil instead of grease, so they're louder anyway.I find that the loud heavy clicks and solid engagement does it for me, on all the Kings I've tried I can't feel when they engage, they feel more "flexy" to me aswell, but the volume doesn't bother me too much as long as it feels good. Captain Scarlet
So you've bought a full build bike with the intentions of upgrading it all immediately? Why not just buy a more specced full build?
JT!
If you've bought yourself a Onza Rip and want to upgrade your freewheeling system, you're much better of replacing the dicta 18t freewheel with another 18t freewheel.http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/search.php?category_id=16I'd be looking at the rockman, or the tensile. Then all you have to do is take your rear wheel down to your local bike shop and have them fit it (getting old freewheels off requires a lot of effort and the right tools) and you're good to go. Rip James
The noise doesn't really matter that much. And btw i have no intention of stripping out any grease or anything,I was just saying i want a nice strong hub, PREFEREBLY loud. Muel
As JT says, just get a decent freewheel mate, it will make a huge difference.Next things are stuff like forks, bar, stem and tarting up the rear brake with some decent pads and stuff like that.
