Rear Bb7 Work On Front?

J Trials 31

Hey the 203mm I got cheap was for the rear, but I want to use it on the front. I also noticed that the calipers are different. I was unaware of this. Is it still possible to use it on the front or will I have to try to swap it with someone?

The caliper it self is the same as the front, it's just the black mount that moves it around to fit the back. It could be quite hard to source just that bracket.

I think this is the one you want:

But unfortunately it's out of stock. There are loads of different brands but they're MOSTLY compatible so just get the cheapest that's in stock - from skimming through I think that's the Hayes front 8" IS to post mount one. I had some problems when I was trying to use a Hayes caliper with a Shimano 160 mount (the caliper fouled the mount) so it's not foolproof. But if you're using a bigger adapter (I.e. 203) then they're much less likely to be incompatible.

Alternatively Google it to find somewhere that has an Avid one in stock. Or get a smaller front disc.

I just want one that works. Any thing else I need to look for. Could I possibly get someone to swap the post mount for a front one? I'm not sure what the deal is. If I could swap out the black mount thing for a front one it would work fine?

i have one......if you pay posate il send it your free (Y)

Will it fit a 203? Let me know how much postage is. I might do it, Dave. We've had some funny postage changes around here and prices have gone up, not sure if it has over there or not.

I had a rear BB7 on my zoot a while back. Got it cheap and it had the 203mm disc and rear adapter.

I drilled it to fit B) Basically just measure it out and drill two holes slightly above the present holes. Then just bolt it up ,only problem is that it has to have a nut on the end (didn't affect it).

Smaller adjustments can be done at the other end of the adapter. Worked a treat for me, never had any problems with it. Someone out there is probably still using it like that.....

Will save you a few shillings.

Oh I didn't realise you were in the states. It's gonna be easier for you to order one from over there - I'm sure there are plenty of mountain bike shops online that will do them.

The things you need to know:

IS (to post)

The size of disc you want to use (203 for you I think? AKA 8")

It's for the front
