sobek
Ok so I have a laptop computer, which is 2 years old and its now getting to the point where its running very slowly. it takes about 20 minutes from turning it on to get to the point where it runs smoothly. So i want to increase the speed. I bought a new hard drive last year but would like to increase the RAM. Do i need to buy a new processor or some other part?thanks
Krisboats
New processor would definitely speed it up, but changing the processor in a laptop is usually a bit complex. Depending on the chipset for the processor it might be quite tricky/unjustifiably expensive to buy a new one rather than just getting a new laptop altogether. Getting more ram is a lot easier as they usually have a dedicated panel to simply undo on the base of the laptop. This would result in faster loading times for both the operating system and general applications and would allow you to have more open applications without the entire system seeming to get "bogged down".Getting a solid state hard drive would DRASTICALLY increase the load times of your computer and your files, but it comes at a fairly drastic cost as well as its a fairly new mainstream product.
