forteh
I have a slightly buckled wheel and i have a spoke key(tool) i was just wondering how do i unbuckle it ,ie; which way i turn it and what stuff should i do ThanksRob.A quick rough guide: -Set the bike up so you can see both brake pads and the buckled rim (for doing the rear wheel sit the bike up on the bars and front wheel so you can look at the gaps between the rim and the pads).Turn the wheel untill the buckle is next to the pads.Find the nearest spoke on the side that you want to pull it over and tighten that spoke, you should see the rim move over. Remember that to tighten the spoke you need to turn the nipple clockwise when looking at it from the end (outside the rim), if youre tightening the spoke at the bottom of the wheel then you need to turn the nipple anticlockwise when looking at it.Keep your nipple turns to 1/2 at a time to take the big buckles out and then 1/4 turns for finer adjustment. If you find that the spoke is too tight already then loosen the corresponding spoke on the opposite side of the rim, this will allow the spoke to tighten alittle.Work round the wheel from the valve until you have it all straight Far from complete but its the rough basis. A.Baxter
I thaught that the at the buckle next to the pads you're supposed to slightly loosen it then find the opposite spokes on the other side of the wheel and tighten that spoke. But i am not completly sure, the guy above is probably more correct than me Adam
A.Baxter
OOOOPS ! I was wrong, right when you find where the rim is catching on the pad, loosen the spoke next to where it is catching, and then tighten the soke next to it next to the other pad Adam
Mr Motivator
Lefty loosey, righty tighty.Spokes on the left hand side of the wheel will move the rim left, spokes on the right of the wheel will move the rim to the right.Try to get a similar tension on each spoke around the wheel. Is it a bad buckle? It's usually best to just start again sometimes. Loosen off every nipple and start again, keep them all as loose as possible while keeping the rim straight and central, then slowly tighten as you go round while fine tuning. It just takes time.
