Robwalker
Sounds bizarre. Give hope a ring and send it up to them, they'll probably be as interested as you to find out whats happened. Just a pain its going to stop you riding for a bit. HOPEfully they'll send you a new one. Haha.
psycholist
Are the bearings in the freehub running smoothly? All I can think of is that the freehub bearings might be seized and jamming the hub up when its clamped back in the frame. Does the wheel spin without dragging the freehub on or are they locked together?Take off the freehub again and spin the wheel on the axle to see if the hub is somehow running off centre. You've already said the axle is straight, so that eliminates that, slide the freehub on part way and see does that spin centered properly on the axle too. Is the ratchet ring in the hub body undamaged? If there's a crack in this it may be able to snag the freehub body. Never heard of anything like this before to be honest... N.Wood
This happened to me when I forgot to put the washer in between the bearings, but as you said you did that, i've got no idea Did you put the pawls and springs the right way round? tryallmaster
Check that the plastic seal is clipped into the hub body correctly. If this is not pressed in the hub will appear to be seized.

Loosen it off, then give the hub a bit of time to wear in.

Never heard of anything like this before to be honest...Looks like I was close then... Still a bizarre fault. Unless there's evidence the ratchet ring was forcibly bent out of shape then Hope's warranty should cover it. Best thing to do is phone them. If they ask if you're the original owner then it's usually better to be truthful - people in warranty departments don't like being lied to and they get a lot more of it than most people. Given it's not an old hub and was designed for trials they can't say it was misuse anyway. If you can get a photo of the damaged drive ring it'd be interesting (At least to me ).
