Dickiem
Hi all,New to the forum and could use some advice please.I used to ride trials a number of years ago but gave up when my son was born. He's 9 now and wants to have a go himself. Any recommendations for a reasonably priced starter bike for him? Looked around at the old TY80s but they look a bit heavy now. I'd like to get him started on something with gears if possible.
MAX (M.A.D)
As far as I can see you want your son to start motorcross trials, this forum is for bike trials bikes.http://tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?produc...;category_id=47But keep looking in as a few members do motorcross trials on here and could give you some advice. Duncy H
It seems ty80's are popular for the begginers but the beta's seem to be the best performing 80cc bike. Although I'm not sure on the age when you are able to ride an 80cc in competition. Its always good to get a cyle trials bike like this forum is for for them to learn balance etc.

Motocross is where people race round tracks against each other, trials is basically the same as push-bike trials, throwing bikes at rocks. TY80s are OK, but I'd recommend something more modern like a Beta rev and go 50, I once knew a bloke who got his daughter one. She used to beat me in competitions. Nuff said! (I was a 5ft tall 14 year old on a TY250 monoshock though, I could barely start the bloody thing let alone balance on top of it!)EDIT: Oh, and I'm pretty sure he can ride upto a 125cc as long as he's under 16?EDIT2: I'd get him a Beta 80 if I were you, I vaguely new a young lad who had one, he beat me at every single trial I saw him at. (He was also one of the top youth D riders in the country though). Try asking on trialscentral.com, you'll get more/better advice.
