My New Electro / Techno Track

I listened to the first minute, then skimmed through the rest. I think it's sticking to the same beat too much. It's quite a monotonous 5 minutes. I'm listening through a pair of AKG K171 monitors, so I think the quality is ok. I don't like the timbre of the main 'hook line' and the pace of the track (not tempo, but flow) isn't quick enough imo. Like the ping-pong sounding bit though. It's far too thin in places too, imo. Not in a dramatic breaking down kindof way, just on a boring way.

All opinion, of course, and trying to be a bit constructive. :) I normally like your stuff though, this is an exception!

Edit: that's after a more careful listen to the whole thing.

I get the idea of where you're coming from with the beats/things on a HighPass filter, it's a great concept to go with the name. Needs to progress a bit faster, though I've started writing radio playable stuff recently, whereas yours isn't.

It's good though. :)

It's a full length DJ track so "kicking in earlier" would really screw the DJ over :P

Thanks for all the comments, the only thing I will say is that the genre is repetitive by nature, to make a track that isn't wouldn't really fit. This genre is love or hate to be honest, I guess most of you hate hehe.

Well Mike, this track has just had me, the wife and 11 year old son slammin' in our front room! :D

I used to luuurve detroit techno back in the days, Kenny Larkin, Ritchie Hawtin, Carl Craig etc.

I'm liking your use of polyrhythms, the lead bleeps and blips work quite nicely against the bassline and drumtrack. It's definately got that 'jerk' !

As a small/project studio producer in the past, I realise the time and effort involved in making a 'finished' track. Well done!

If you don't mind me saying, the mix sounds a bit harsh in the upper mids. It may be the threshold of the compressor your using? Anyway, good work man!!! (Y)
