trialschallenger
i had a bit of trouble with the threads stripping out of my brake mounts i was told i couldnt helicoil it.the brake mount is only about 3mm thick so i drilled the frame bit of studding and my brake is as solid as a rock
JonMack
I'd probably put that down as worst bodge ever.
Muel
I've heard of it being done before, frame didn't last long I'm afraid!Helicoil is the only real way. You can tap out to M6, but it means filing out the booster, new booster spacers, drilling the mounts, trying to get the bigger spacers to fit in the mounts etc. I.E: more trouble than it's worth. trialschallenger
i ment that the brake mounts arent solid like on most frames there just a bent bita sheet steel, and worst bodge? ive seen a lot worse! and itll do the trick untill i cn afford a new frame
TomN
I would of gone down the jubilee clip route, i had to do that to mine and it held in place.

trialschallenger
Yeah, what he said!EDIT: Why couldn't you helicoil it?some engineering firm told me it would be more dangerous to try and helicoil it,and yes it is a steel frame also to be honest i couldnt afford to pay someone to braze/wield it all on and this'll b fine for a short while
