mr_malcolm
As some of you know i was involved in a road traffic accedent as the nice police people call it. Basically due to this i have lost most of my strength in my right leg, my leading leg. Its slowely statying to come back through walking etc and very light gym work. I think i already know im probably going to have to start from scratch with riding, just woundered if any one else had any seriouse leg injurys and what they done to get back on form.Regards
Sam Ward
take it easy. its the single most important piece of advice you'll get. i did too much too soon and regret it.other than that, lots of stretching, make sure your walking correctly, dont add weight till you can do most things you used to be able to near on perfectly.oh and if youve got any restrictions in movement becuase of the injury you probably wont ever have the same strength again
Greetings
When you think you're ready to put a lot of strain on it, a good way to buff it up will be to do Air Alert. Look it up in Google.3-4 weeks of that and it'll start getting strong.
mr_malcolm
I can fully wieght bare on it and im nearly walking without a limp now, i know about air alert and those sort of programes from when i used to play basketball. I dont plan to over do it at all, i just dont particually want to see like 6-7 years of cycling go down the drain if you know what i mean. MattB
In exactly the same postions as you. Injured my leg and is very weak. Is annoying to look at stuff and think I could do it if it wern't for my leg.I've been put on a gym class at the hospital. Not been yet but hopefully it will sort it out.Apart from stretches ect just been doing some light riding.

Sam Ward
dont particually want to see like 6-7 years of cycling go down the drain if you know what i mean.dont worry you won't, i stopped riding about a year before i broke my foot, 2 operations down the line, about 2 1/2 - 3 years off and im already riding better than i used to, and ive had my bike 4 days.i assume your having/going to have physio, if not go get some, theyre great, they really helped me out when i was walking like a spacker which then sorted most of the pain
GlynnP
Ankle weights are pretty useful.Just walking around with one on starts to build the muscle and stregth back up.wouldnt use untill you can walk full again though but good before you can do full weights at the gtmANKLE WEIGHTS
Greetings
What about XC or road? That should be a good way to get it used to physical effort?
Mikey Tomo
Sorry to steal the thread but would "Air Alert" improve my riding? Such as doing bigger things?
Greetings
Sorry to steal the thread but would "Air Alert" improve my riding? Such as doing bigger things?Completing it will apparently increase your vertical jump by up to 12 inches. I've never gone past week 6 myself, it's just way too exhausting. But if it's designed in such a way that at the end of the 3 month programme you're capable of doing week 12, it must work. I'm doing it now, decided to complete at least 1 month before going out for my first ride this year.
tmks88
Sorry to steal the thread but would "Air Alert" improve my riding? Such as doing bigger things?just a little at firstair alerts biggest problem is that theres too much reps on excersises, you will train only your stamina and its also easier to injure yourself with too many reps. Air alert is made to get easy money.and in trials your back is more important than legs (both lower and upper back)if you still want to do plyometric training you can do air alert for a month or so but dont do it that often and cut down on the reps, if you want more speed then do like 10-30 reps on most excersises and as fast as you can.and remember than training to failure taughts your body to FAIL

1a2bcio8
High protein diet alongside exercise? Presumably if the muscle is weak is will be continually breaking down from the stress of exercise. To make the most of that make sure you're getting enough protein. Perhaps even try some protein powder?
