NVWOCI WVS
no fm8 is program not hardware...I know that. but your computer will have a stereo in (mic) and a stereo out (headphones). 3.5mm jack lead out of headphones and into mic, then hit play on logic and record on fm8. It's not rocket science.
MadManMike
I want to join in...But I don't know the answer Will a generic reply of "try cleaning your CD" or "Switch the unit off and then on after 5 seconds" help?

GaZaa
Yes - in a way.Pro Tools is best for PC - not having any of this Cubase milarky. You can have 200 channels on Pro Tools as far as I know..You'll also need an audio interface, 5 or more inputs, firewire or USB (but USB is slow as). From my experience with Pro Tools its only any good if you have about 20 grand to throw at a decent rig and even then its ridiculously fussy or the hardware just dies altogether! Ive used a fully functional HD3 rig at uni and its unbelievably buggy. For the consumer market you are limited to LE or M-Powered which limit you to something daft like 32 tracks and if you want any more you have to pay an extra price to increase it to 48! Even then you're limited to using digidesign or m-audio hardware which I think personally is dog shit.I must admit that I'm actually quite comfortable with cubase and everything that you need is there as you require it. Logic to me is far too 'apple' and I'm not much of a fan.At the end of the day they all do exactly the same job and its down to personal preference. I just dont get all this Logic is better just because it is, or Pro Tools is better because it costs more. People work with what they're comfortable with and thats why they like it. Unfortunately Pro Tools has the advantage as it is the 'Industry Standard'.Anyway thats probably killed it!

The USB Key dongle thing they released last year was pretty useless - but it cost £150 didn't it?Pro Tools (HD1) is used in Abbey Road! - Though, I'm yet to meet a songwriter who doesn't use Logic/Cubase.HD3 is really temperamental vs. the older models. I've only ever used one good version of it, which was at the Farmhouse Studio (Genesis Studio), and it was a hugely expensive and oldschool studio.
