edMonkey
Im on a nightmareish budget of about £250 to get a "20 mod up and running.Have been trolling the for sale forums and seeing these bits and bobs go for much less than Tarty's prices. So i think I'm gonna build my own.Is it hard to build a wheel? both wheels in fact...I am an able bodied person with no real retardation's I'm aware of, so it should be no bother. but will it save me money?also, are headsets and bottom brackets mofo's to fit? i have done it in ages past and i dont remember it being a lovely experience. Although the wiki is really helpful. Thanks. x
Dave!
As long as the frames sounds and the threads arn't moshed BB's are no problem...just remember to throw in loads of grease! As for wheels, no harm in trying to build your own....but I'm sure wheel builds are only like £10. But if your on a mega budget I'd try building my own.
Dan6061
Wheels are easy to build once you've learnt how to lace them! It's just a matter of tightening every spoke exactly the same, to get a round wheel. As I said in my FS thread, if I don't sell the bike whole, I'll sort you out with the parts you listed! I'd just rather sell it whole than in bits, just easier that way.
weirdoku
I just built my first wheel today, a front one. I followed the guide but still took me 2 goes (taking all spokes out again twice) to get it right, it's harder than it sounds. But if you take time to do it properly, afterwards it seems really easy. I now have it mezmerised in my head. It's quite fun too! Headsets are easy to fit, but would be better if you get it properly fitted. I'm sure your local bike shop would be happy to help for a few £. I managed to fit one of mine in before with a hammer and a blank of wood, just make sure you hammer it evenly. Bottom brackets are easy to fit, easily fit one in less than a minute providing you have the correct BB tool. Greetings
Wheelbuilding is something you should learn to do if you're going to ride trials. No better way to start than build your own wheels. The first few builds will be fairly difficult and will most certainly take you a long time but once you get the hang of it you'll probably enjoy it.Sheldon Brown's wheel building guide

Thats from completely dissembled.Matt
