Andrew C
Hi i recently bought a neon bow frame but the threads are stripped on the bottom bracket area. I would like to know if a threadless bottom bracket would be the easiest and best option. This is the one i was thinking of http://www.freemanscycles.co.uk/product2.a...0Bracket%20unit would one of these sizes fit thanks Edited March 5, 2009 by Andrew C

Give it a go and give us feedback. xEDIT: I dont think you will be able to run ffw. Unless you can find another with a bigger axle. ? mike-dyson
i think your looking at a new frame mate, sorry. You should get somthin abit better quality as them neons are jus knock offs of monty kamels, have a look at echo or adamant or czar or somthing a bit more mainstream. Daniel C
A lad i know bought a t-pro off ebay and te bb shell was bigger so the bb didnt fit correctly, so he crammed lads of thread lock in the bb shell on the threads and wacked the bb in and it worked for ages, i cant even remember seeing it come loose at all, maybe you could try doing this? George ZHI
Tried getting the bottom bracket tapped? Also a friend of mine on his mountain bike got a thin bit of metal made, which screwed into the old threads making the bottom bracket work again like it was brand new, im not sure what this is called but maybe try researching it, its well worth it as he is still running it now.hope i have helped. Me and andrew were trying to put his echo external bottom bracket in, got half way easy by hand and then got really stiff. took it back out and found that the bb had munched the threads. He was running an external bb with a front freewheel aswell without problems so im sure a short bb will be fine. The threadless bb is probably the best bet if not try my bodge idea and see if that works. My idea could be a last resort maybe.

Matt Vandart
You might as well try anything really because you can't really do any more damage.Don't listen to people that just say "Buy a new frame" you have already bought one so you may as well get the most use out of it you can.See this thread for instance:Clickety click for JesusHope this helpsMatt

Fishy
Threadless bottom brackets are shit. They end up just spinning cos you can never get them tight enough, or come loose. There's a bike shop in bristol who mill out the bb threads and insert a sleeve instead, but I can't remember the name of the shop. Might be worth researching into that. Jack Chinnery
yeppppp... lolFrom what I have gathered and what scott21 said to me, You cant fit a FFW on a 122.5 mill axle. They just wont fit?
