What are the water side effects? Drip marks?

I got told If it gets inside the freewheel, it could well naff it up, which it did on my old bike

When i wash my bike I.....

1. Completly soaked it

2. Spray it with some cleaning chemical (dont no what it was  )

3. Rub it in

4. Rinsed it off

5. Then i wiped it dry

6. =]

More like rust.

Cheers Jordan, I'm thinking of getting an air line/ compressor, so i can dry it off completly.

1. get a lift to grandads house

2. open his garage

3. get the p;ressure washer

4. attach it to water pipe

5. soak that bike like its never been soaked before

6. go home leave all equipment out for grandad to clean up :P

I thought the pressure washer naffs up all the bearings.

Nice one Ryan, Thanks for quick reply.

HaHa

Normally i never clean my bike even when its really really muddy

If you just keep riding it and all the dirt and mud just falls off.if not use a damp piece of fabric and wipe around everywhere so you dont get the hole bike wet E.g chain and brakes

So no bearing get messed up or nutting gets rusty ;)

Top tip, don't go near it with soapy stuff, you'll end up having to bed your discs in again.

I just spray it with water, then use a soft brush if any is left and spray it again, then when it's dry go over it and wipe any left over grime away.

NEVER use a pressure washer, it drives water into the bearings and f**ks them over! Just get a sponge, put some degreaser on it and wipe the bike down... if the bikes really muddy get a broom and brush it clean first.

That's what i thought would happen if you used a Pressure Washer

I'm more Bothered about how to clean the tyres.

I never clean my trials bike, but with my mountain bikes:

1- Remove wheels, cranks and bb.

2- Wash the frame and forks with hot water, washing up liquid and a sponge.

3- Dry the frame and forks with dusters.

4- Wash the wheels in the same way and clean the rotor with nail varnish remover.

5- Clean the cranks and bb, then dry and regrease everything.

6- Reassemble everything.

7- Polish everything with wd40 (not including rotors)

Takes about 4 hours. It sounds like a lot to do but with everything polished with wd40 I rarely need to do anything as mud does not stick to it. However when the mud is clay like I do it and it solves everything that goes wrong on the bike!

How exactly will it get into the bearings and freewheel? Unless you actually aim it at them for prolonged periods of time..
