Matt Vandart
f**k I forgot what this topic was about.Glad it finally got there and in in one piece Rich, f**king stoopid parcelforce.Ben, awesome man, do you think you could do pedal kicks across some bars like the kid in the video?I can do about three in a row without touching my brake on the deck (without much control I might add), but I havn't the balls to try it up on some rails.Hey I hope no-one has taken offence here, that wasn't my aim, but to see if anyone was trying proper brakeless "trials" in the natural/comp sense.I just think the stuff Chris Akrigg is doing in the 2 videos is more like BMX/mountain bike street style stuff, still awsesome none the less.It doesn't really matter does it, what it's called anyway.Sorry to hijack your topic Richard.Matt

grant_hundley
It's not your attitude or how you word you posts etc. It's just that it seems to me that you're posting most of the time to get a higher post count.Like repeating what others have said, stupid pointless posts that don't help anyone etc.. middleageman
Anyway...., have any of you 24" riders got any good tips for lachojski and middleageman's new Zoots? Such as equipment improvements, riding techniques or styles etc.?
Aaron.Tottman
sorry forgot to say, love the zoot!!! don't personaly like pink, but you it's nice and suttle. not too 'in your face, flourecent pink'if i had the money i'd buy a 24'' love 'em.I'm sorry, I don't agree, if that was the case then riding a half pipe on a BMX would be "Trials". Riding a bike over an obstacle, is not a good definition of trials, a roadie rides his bike over an obstacle, ie. a hill, now that clearly isn't trials. If you have no context of "Trials" then it is all just riding a bike, or cycling.Sorry, my bad, i didn't give any eg's when i mentioned 'obsticle'. i.e: Rock, log, river, wall, rail, curb. some thing that would block you path ina general bike ride.If a trials manuver is used ona road bike to endo onto a curb/small rock for eg' is it not trials to a degree? is what i was getting at.*I'll admit the term "trials" is getting a bit blurred, in MBUK a while back, there was an article on a talented young trials guy, can't remember his name, and I am not aiming this at him either, but they made a big thing about him doing "Squeekers" and tail stalling on the rail of a halfpipe. Things that BMXrs have been doing for many, many years in fact Danny Holroyd does the exact same things in "Leaps and bounds".* *i remember who your on about and i agree flat land ain't trials, there's BMX/street influenced trials like what holroyd/akrigg do.you can do flat land ona trials bike....dosn't make it trials! **I am not disrespecting anyone that I have mentioned in this post, but I believe that a definition of any sport/activity is required in order for that sport/activity to develop.I am also not one for solid definitions either, trials has developed out of BMX, and at a point ceased to be BMX and became "Observed Trials" or "Trialsin", what these guys are doing is essential for trials to develop in a similar way to when it originally emerged out of BMX and in this way they are poineers in the sport, however I do not think that these videos by Chris Akrig can be labelled "Brakeless trials".....yet.****trials started yes from using 'Mod'ified BMX's to imitate the moto trials bike's. hence 'mod' bike. started by pedero pi, ot pi's father i believe. founder of monty??***I don't even know if he refers to it as "Brakeless Trials" but I have seen his stuff referred to as such bwhich is the object of my rant.***Either way he is an awesome rider.Matt***no, i agree again if anything it should be ''Brakeless Street Trials'' if any context would do.Anyway...., have any of you 24" riders got any good tips for lachojski and middleageman's new Zoots? Such as equipment improvements, riding techniques or styles etc.?If it was me on the 24incher ''bunny hops'' would be the first thing that i would try and get dialed. see how high/smooth i can get them.then start adding 180's into moves, eg endos, bunny-hops ect... their the harder moves to nail i reckon if you got them down then the possibility's are endless.x-up's/tail taps/abubica's are always fun.sorry 24inch = street for me.shouldn't be that way though. 24inch and comps would go really well i rekon?!didn't the BIU start or was ona 'bout doing an ''Open Catagory'' any wheel size?!!?just to add. i do ride a BMX for trials once ina blue moon, track standing, wheel swaps, skinny's ect... never said i was any good at it???!?!? LOL:) Edited March 7, 2009 by Aaron.gloster
Cresswell_d
Anyway...., have any of you 24" riders got any good tips for lachojski and middleageman's new Zoots? Such as equipment improvements, riding techniques or styles etc.?It depends on what type of riding you want to do. (street or trails or both)At first I watched alot and I mean a lot of videos then.Just went on the streets trying then moves I watched. (I even put videos on my ipod so if I wasnt quite sure about a move I can watch it again.)So depending on the style you want to do watch the videos. (You will come alot better.)There is a few web sites with trials techniques here is one. Click 'ere If you tell us your specs of your bike (even if its 'Standed') We can tell you about upgrades and help you there. But there is two things you need to do when you ride your bike:Try the techniquesWear a helmet!Right I'm goin out for a ride now hope this helped. And good luck on your new bikes!!!Daz. Matt Vandart
Thats a fab idea withthe Ipod vidoe malarky, so obvious now, sometimes I can be a right div.Best thing you can do MAM ( ) and Richard is just get out there and ride it, you'll soon work out if you want to change anything, practice trackstands in your kitchen while your waiting for the kettle to boil or the living room when it's raining and watch the telly at the same time. The more time you spend on your bike the easier everything gets. You get to a point where you feel as comfy trackstanding as standing on your own two feet.Oh and build a little section in your drive/garden this really helps. This is the one I built in my garden, it's not too high, the highest bit is just under 3ft, as my missus kids use it too (they have their own lower one up on the patio), but it's just right for me as I have only got back into trials in the last 6mnths or so after a big spell out of it so I didn't want to make anything unachievable to knock my enthusiasm.I tell you what I forgot how fit you have to be to ride trials aswell sweating and out of breath after a few hours on this!Anyway.Matt Edited March 7, 2009 by Matt Vandart
lachojski
Cheers for the advice lads.I'm thinking of going the more street way as i use to like riding a bmx and love that style.I have been out a couple of times just hoping onto kurbs and off again. Also found a couple of rocks that were perfect for starting on.Managed to hop onto the first rock that is about 2ft high (from standing, half pedal and hop style) and back off again.I keep saying it but cant wait to get stuck in whaen i get back.Even thought bout taking the bike with me.lol.Also that back garden looks bang on.
