Luke Rainbird
(16/12)*20 = 26.7 gear inches (pretty light gearing)Similar feel on stock:26.7/26 = 1.02 (see, very light!), so something along the lines of 20:19, 18:17 or similarMight be the perfect opportunity to knock things up a tooth or two and work those calves 18:16 is pretty popular and far from heavy, perhaps worth a shot
Revolver
16:12?!Crazy guy. On mods, you want 18:12Mind, boumsong uses a piss-light ratio and he can do things massive...I think it's because he's a yorkshireman.
1337 Trials
It may be an 18. Its a tensile free-wheel. It is stiffer gearing than most trials bikes I know so ide say its 18. My bad....
maxxis26
crank lenth makes a difference too mateive got 18 front to 16 rear with 170mm cranksif using 175mm cranks maybe a 15 on the rear would be a better ratio
sstein
The norm is 18:15 which is a ratio of 1.20. I use 22:18 which is 1.22 and I used to use 22:16 which is 1.375. 16:12 is 1.33 which you could use but I would say to try 16:13 if you want a ring that small as it will be easier. JonMack
I've got a Chris King and it's very easy to pedal, what's your point? 18:12 is a light ratio, that's just how it is.Unless of course your friend has a bigger sprocket on the back, or a smaller sprocket on the front, which would make him a bit of a fool. NVWOCI WVS
I had a mod with 18:13 back in the day. It actually felt really good.
Mark W
Not as good as a mod with 18:12, but 175mm cranks. It feels roughly the same as 18:13/158-165mm, but because you've actually got the better mechanical advantage of the 175s, you can get the extra power of 18:12 without it feeling harder. If that makes sense...
1337 Trials
Just a quick question...If I was to have a freehub and have a sprocket on the front would I be able to fit a echo bashring onto the crank arm and the chain fit on without rubbing the bashring? Thanks~

16 years later
I used to run 22:17 on my limey 2 with 175mm cranks, now im running 18:14 with 170mm cranks.I prefer a harder gear I find I can get more power.

I agree with the higher gear Im going to see what wheel I get. May be a fixed rear hub or a freehub. Just looking for one at the moment.
