mike-dyson
Im thinkin of buy a tpro frame off someone i know and as far as i know the frame has 10mm rear dropouts but my wheel off my base has a14mm axle, so i was wondering if it would be ok to file the dropouts until it fits. It's only 2mm on the top and 2mm on the bottom so its not realy that much been taken off. Edited February 24, 2009 by mike-dyson

Polish Petee
I think its a total waste off time and ruining the frame to put a base wheel in? You will ruin the frame and than when you going to get a new wheel you not going to fit it in unless its built to the base hub. I think that you shuld just get a new cheap wheel and use that than try to bodge your frame up.

Callum.Curwood
A decent second hand wheel will only set you back about £40That's with a sealed bearing hub and a decent rim Have a look around the F/s thread and on Ebay
mike-dyson
I'm gettin the frame for £30 with a head set brake mounts and a booster so im not to fussed about wreacking the frame, and if i want to run a 10mm axel i will just put the spacers in i got with my chain tugs so thats not a problem. I was just wundering if it was going to compleatly badger the frame.

It will be worth naff when you go to sell it, also if you go to upgrade you will be stuffed
Muel
I'd grind the axle down if I were you, those frames are pretty decent! It'll last until you can get a decent rear wheel.Getting it ground flat will be hard, but you may well find you can file it. Take the axle out and stick it in a vice, then run a grinder or file up and down it to make two sides that fit in the dropouts.

Alex Dark
Then how do i get the nuts back on?Why will i be stuffed if i upgrade? I will put the spacers in if i get a new hub.dont grind right to he edge, plus the nuts will still work if they;re only running on half an axle, just grind either side of the nut, then move it back...well you get the idea im suresacers are a bad idea, just cane the wheel or get a new one
Ashley-Wood
grind flat spots on the axle instead of ruining the frame, leave thread on the ends so you can still screw the nut on though
Muel
Then how do i get the nuts back on?Ever seen the push rod in a magura HS33 lever? Make it look a bit like that.
Revolver
Don't grind the frame. You've been offered two good choices of what to do, choose one of those instead!
