Dan6061
My old school tried all that, no one followed the rules, none of the teachers could do anything. Was fun! They tried to make us all buy blazers for our last year of school, to which none of us did...
Pashley26
At the boarding school I was at you couldn't wear your own clothes up until Senior School. (two years in each house) Then you could wear what ever you wanted. It wasn't the nicest of place and was a cross between a school and a correction facility, but it was such a laugh. Had to wear these shitty beige jeans and yellow shirts, got to wear our own trainers and hats and scarfs and stuff, lower school had a light green jumper, middle school had red and senior had dark green. When you first went to the school you didn't get a badge on the jumper, just a plain jumper. And if you hadn't "earned" your badge after 6 months you got kicked out and sent to a 52 week lock up if you were lucky and then you still got GCSE's, if not you just didn't get into another school. It was really last of the line ! Classes were 5 to a class, with 6 lessons a day. Each consisting of an hour and a half in the morning with 15 min breaks in between. Then an hour for lunch, then two afternoon lessons with 25 minute breaks in between. You could stay on at the weekends if you were good, but only a few people stayed. 3 or 4 a weekend. You couldn't spend more than 3 weeks in a row there so thats what I did, 3 weeks in then a weekend at home. At the weenends we did cool shit like Go Karting, shooting, camping, cycling and things. The school was massive, but there were only circa 50 people there at one time. It was an EBD school, and to be fair it did it's job on me. I was such a little f**k up until I got into that place and took what they had to teach me onboard. Heres a photo of the front of the school, unfortunately I can't find any more photo's of it because it's an EDB school so the kids are seen as "at risk" and camera's aren't allowed on site - *The "Badge" was the schools name "St Edwards" in gold embroidery on the left chest. Funnily enough the un-badged jumpers were really scratchy and nasty and were paper thin, but the badged ones were thick, warm and soft. I remember thinking "wow f**k me!!!" when I got given my badge. (They had a morning parade on Fridays before people went home and once a month they'd give a few people who had proved themselves a badged jumper and they had to put the jumper on and have a photo taken). I must have seen 100 people get admitted and then removed from that place in the 5 years I was there. haha Edited February 25, 2009 by Pashley26
mr ailsbury
we had to have our top buttons done up on our shirts and have them properly tucked in and ties done up properly at the right length, we were also made to wear our jumpers at all times even in the summer, and we couldn't take them off unless the teacher said we could so basically we were only allowed to take them off if the teacher thought it was too hot.A lad went out and spent like £120 on Rockports and got suspended because they had a little white line around them until he bought new ones, That was in the local paper and I assume they let him go back.hair length as well, If they could see your scalp through your hair you got suspended until it grew back.we had to walk a certain way around the corridors too so iff you walk through the wrong door at the wrong time you got sent back outside to walk through the right way, even if you were at the door of your class room.No coats inside either, even if it was thrashing it down with rain you weren't allowed in the building until it was off. They made everyone in our year a prefect, and took the badge away if you did something wrong, so as soon as it was taken away you just go to reception and say you lost it and get a new one, we never had to do anything, jst used it to jump to the front of the dinner Que lol

Pashley26
Are you sure it wasn't just a prison? Pretty much I was at an EBD (Emotional Behavioral Difficulty) school, which is like two steps down from a lock up. If you got kicked out of there and you were lucky you got into a higher grade of EBD school (only 2 in the country), but they were all 52 week boarding with bars on the windows and someone standing outside when you went for a shit places; if you get what I mean. I wasn't a particularly "bad" lad or anything, i was just a bit confused

N.Wood
Seems like a fair bit of money (well, in general terms, cheapish for a private school) to spend on not a lot of teaching time.
Sam-Addy A3
At our school we have uniform cards and if you have your top button undone etc. you would get a warning on your card and if you get 5 you get a detention. Si-man
1st 3 years at school had to wear a black blazer with the school badge on, white shirt and the school tie. Year 10 and 11, they let us wear a white polo with school emblem on, no blazer but have to wear a black pull over jumper with the school name on. Black trousers and shoes were a definite yes aswell. Kind of got away with the shoes though, used to just wear black skate shoes. Was like 5 years ago, wish I was still there

If anything, the cheaper/ less prestigious schools seems to be worse. I know a guy who didn't know that comprehensive schools exist

Muel
Our old school uniform was pretty mint, normal black trousers, (I've never know the proper name for them, the ones that you wear with a shirt), white polo shirt and black sweatshirt with the school logo.Popped collers, Rockports and skate belts to finish it off.
